2 St. Mary Church Mass Schedule Saturday 4:30pm Sunday 7:00am and 10:00am Tuesday at 6:00pm - Way of the Cross after Mass during Lent Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30am *There will be no morning Mass on funeral mornings. Also when school is cancelled or delayed because of the weather, there will be no morning/evening Mass. Sacrament of Reconciliation at St. Mary Church First Friday 6:45-7:10am Saturday 3:30-4:10pm *On Saturday when there is a wedding, there will be no confessions. Anointing of the Sick: If facing surgery, dealing with a chronic illness, serious accident or nearing the end of life, notify the parish office if you would like Fr. Erbacher to administer Anointing of the Sick. Sacrament of Baptism: Baptisms will take place the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month with Fr. Erbacher or Deacon John. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment. Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office six months prior to setting a date. This will provide time for prayer, preparation and paperwork. 3 From-the-Desk-of-the Pastor, Gracious Thanks The Holy Mass and Blessing of the site for the New Church, by Bishop Siegel, on February 25, was very specially, joyously, and solemnly celebrated in a most fitting occasion on a beautiful day. So many people within our parish provided and arranged for the celebration and reception for us all to enjoy. My very personal thanks to Dianne Gogel, Sherri Hartley, Annette Witte, Stan Heim, Pat Gress, Charlene Sermersheim and choir, and many others who beautifully arranged the occasion. To all parishioners who participated in the Mass and Reception, thanks to you. The very kind hospitality shown to Bishop Siegel was most gracious, and he appreciated it very much. The beauty of the day, and the graces of the Lord Jesus, and with our beloved patron, Mary, all brought together for us with the presence of our Bishop, was surely a reward for the many years of dedication and planning! Staples will give us $2 per cartridge up to 20 per month. Drop off your used cartridges at the parish office or put on the parish office porch. Parents, talk to your children and encourage them to put money in the wooden bowl in the front of church (by the piano). The Cemetery Committee had a meeting in February and added 2 new members. The rules and regulations of our cemetery were discussed and updates have been voted on. Updated information will be out in the next couple of weeks. The current cemetery board is: Fr. Erbacher, Phil Gogel, Chuck Hellman, Tony Hohl, Tom Mundy, Carol Schmitt and Tim Werner. February 25, $100 Irish Sweepstakes Raffle Winner is Jeffrey Hopf. Building For Our Future We are accepting aluminum cans as a fundraiser for the new church. Drop off your cans on the trailer in the parking lot. To date, we are over $2,000!! Money used will go to purchase one of the new stained glass windows for the church. Thanks to everyone for your cans. The Building For Our Future Campaign would like to reach out to former parishioners who might have an interest in giving to the new church. If you have a friend or relative who you think might be interested in making a donation, please let the parish office know. We will be glad to get information out to them. Embroidered St. Mary Church hats in the parish office for $5. Lillian F. Eckert Our prayers and sympathy to the family of Lillian who died February 21. May they be comforted by our prayers. This Lenten Season, try to dedicate some time to learn more about your Catholic Faith. Our adult bible study group, Crave, will meet every Monday night at 6:15pm in the Social Hall Building during Lent. We will be starting with Beginning Apologetics 1, How to Explain and Defend the Catholic Faith. This study covers several topics about our faith and has some great discussion questions. We will also have a Saint of the week that we will learn about. The cost of the material is $5.50 for the workbook. Please sign up in the back of church so we know how many books to order. This is a great opportunity to share your faith with fellow parishioners, make new friends and to have a better understanding about Catholicism. March 17 - Homemade Chicken and Dumplings The Ireland Lions Club will be selling homemade chicken and dumplings beginning at 8:00am until sold out. March 17 - Ireland St. Patrick s Dinner/Auction at the St. Mary Community Center. Lots of donated items. I have recently completed my Girl Scout I Live My Faith project. Through this process I have learned quite a few things about my Catholic religion. For example, I have learned about the Creed which is about what Catholics believe. I have also learned about prayer. There are many different ways to pray, each is unique and is important to God. I have also learned more about the Sacraments and about the 7 Catholic Social Teachings. I would like to thank everyone who has helped me to complete this project about my faith and all of those who support Girl Scouts. I would like to encourage all Girl Scouts and all youth to learn more about their Catholic Faith. Isabel Schwenk
