Here are a few reminders to help us get ready.. Help is needed Tuesday: Putting up stands, putting down cardboard...find a picnic chairman and ask where help is needed. Thursday: Dishwashing beginning at 4:00pm. Friday: Cut vegetables for bulk soup beginning at 4:00pm Clean chicken in the back of the cafeteria beginning at 5:00pm Saturday: Baking for the Country Store starting at 7:30am in the cafeteria Peeling Potatoes starting at 7:45am in the cafeteria Set up tables in the cafeteria for inside dining Cakes - One cake per family is needed for the indoor dining. Mark what kind of cake it is and if it is homemade or from a box. Cakes must be brought in throw away containers to the classroom in the cafeteria Sunday morning. Surprise Bag Booth: Items ranging in price 25 cents to $10 are needed. Items may be dropped off at the parish office or put in the container in the back of church. Look at the summer clearance racks at CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, etc for bargains: bubbles, Play Doh, books, stickers, etc. Theme Baskets are needed. Lots of ideas to choose from - kids activities, car detailing, scrap booking, kids games and snacks, etc - please no alcohol. We would like the value to be $30 +. The Country Store is needing supplies for their baking frenzy that will take place on Saturday. Here are just some of the things that would be helpful: frozen berries (we have freezer space if you want us to keep them), pecans/walnuts, sugar, cooking oil, butter, bread flour, eggs, throw away baking pans, etc. These items can be brought to the parish office at anytime. **Calling all PIE and CAKE BAKERS!! If you are able to bake from your home or work with us on Saturday morning, beginning at 7:30am, we need your help. Ideas would be pecan, apple, pumpkin, blackberry pies...pineapple upside down cakes, angel food cakes, and any type of specialty cakes. If you can bake from your home please call Kim Schmitt at and let her know what kind you will be baking. This will help us get labels and packaging ready! Please drop off your items by noon on Saturday of picnic to be labeled and packaged. Don t forget to bring in your homemade items, cookies, pies, cakes, breads, relishes, salsa, jellies, etc. or anything home grown. Picnic Tickets are ready for you to pick up in the back of church. Also, please put up a picnic flyer in your work place or at an area business. Yard Advertising Signs can be found on the parish office porch. Picnic Workers - There are stands that could use some help this year. With the Kimball picnic on the same weekend as our church picnic, some of the stands are short handed. Workers lists can be found in the back of church. Men and teenage young men are especially needed.

2 St. Mary Church Mass Schedule Saturday 4:30pm Sunday 7:00am and 10:00am Tuesday at 7:30am (because of it being picnic week) Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30am *There will be no morning Mass on funeral mornings. Sacrament of Reconciliation at St. Mary Church First Friday 7:00-7:25am Saturday 3:30-4:10pm *On Saturday when there is a wedding, there will be no confessions. Anointing of the Sick: Notify the parish office if there is a need for Fr. Erbacher to administer Anointing of the Sick. Sacrament of Baptism: Baptisms will take place the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month with Fr. Erbacher or Deacon John. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment. Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office six months prior to setting a date. This will provide time for prayer, preparation and paperwork. Homebound Parishioners: Communion calls are made on Monday mornings to parishioners homes. Call the parish office if you would like a visit from our Eucharistic Minister. Gift Bearers: If you would like to carry up the gifts at offertory, please let the ushers know. 3 From-the-Desk-of-the Pastor, As of June 14, 2017, then Bishop Thompson, appointed me as Pastor of St. Mary Church, a position I joyfully accepted and the challenge I eagerly welcomed! We all know that we are going to build a new church, a house of prayer to continually worship in and provide for the faith filled community of St. Mary as it continually grows quite rapidly. For this reason, to provide stability and guidance to our building plans, and to likewise guide me in making major decisions, I am asking that all existing organizations (Parish Council, Finance Committee, Long Term Planning, Building and Grounds, and Capital Campaign Fund Raising Members) all remain in their current positions to guide us through the process of which for years they and others have willingly served. The process of building a new St. Mary Church has been going on for almost some 45 years, and as current pastor, I want to make sure we do get it all right for the upcoming generation of faith filled Catholics. What has been worked at for so long, and to assure the stability and continuity of this project, I obviously need guidance from all parishioners who because of their dedication and loyalty have guided us up to this point in History. And, to all financial supporters, Thank You! God Bless All as we continue on our journey of faith!! (Fr. Erbacher, Effie ) Construction Managers As we very shortly will begin the actual construction of our new church at St. Mary, I have asked and appointed Pat Gress and Patrick Mendel to volunteer their services and expertise to serve as my Construction Managers for this project. I obviously will be present and observe almost daily the construction, but Pat and Patrick will facilitate any and all questions that contractors may have, and then advising me of situation changes. The willingness of both these men to serve as Construction Managers and to answer questions on site, and offer me counsel, is most important to me so that we all together, as proud St. Mary Parishioners, will have a beautiful church to serve not only this generation, but those to follow us! Thank You Pat Gress and Patrick Mendel for accepting this position! (Fr. Erbacher, Effie ) Divine Providence Eucharistic Adoration Chapel has open hours for adoration. If you are interested in filling any of these hours, please contact the number or send an or dp@adorationmanager.com. 3rd Sunday of the month 3:00-4:00pm 4th Sunday of the month 3:00-4:00pm. Please spend an hour with Jesus. Thanks you. Sunday School will begin the Sunday after picnic, September 17, in the basement of the Social Hall and volunteers are needed to teach and help. Lesson plans are made for you. Call Amanda at if you are interested in helping. Great way to give back to our parish. St. John Bosco Catholic Youth Ministry reaches out to youth in grades six through twelve from Holy Family Parish, Precious Blood Parish, St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary Parish. We invite young people to receive Jesus Christ s love and mercy through experiences, relationships, and prayer. We challenge young people to grow in personal relationships with Jesus Christ and one another as we encounter the life and mission of our Catholic faith community and become disciples of Jesus Christ to share the good news with our world. High School Youth Nights will be Wednesdays from 8:30-9:30pm at the Bosco House beginning September 13. Wednesday Faith Minute video clip on Instagram and Facebook to offer encouragement and inspiration on the go. September 6: PJ Anderson Concert with area RE Classes. September 10: Teen Mass at 6:00pm at Precious Blood with pizza following. September 13: High School Youth Night 8:30-9:30pm at the Bosco House. September 20: High School Youth Night 8:30-9:30pm at the Bosco House. September 26: Bosco Bagels for high school students at Azura from 6:45-7:30am. Let Bosco buy your breakfast as we have time for fellowship and encouragement before school starts. High School Youth Nights are a time of answering the hard parts about our faith, growing in our relationship with Jesus, hanging out with friends and of course, snacks are provided. 4 This Week s Parish Events Monday [09/04]: Labor Day Blessing - This day has its foundation in the union organizing history of our country and the rise of the workers to strive for a better life. Let us remember today all those who labored to obtain for us the right to work in a safe environment with decent wages. Let us pray... Lord of work and play, we pray to you today. You worked for six days, creating all that we see and sense around us. On the seventh day you rested and saw that everything you had made was good. Today on our national day of rest from labor, we thank you for the gift of leisure, and remember all who have gone before us, working hard, long hours without break and good pay so that we can appreciate the gifts of family and friends and enjoy safety and prosperity in the work of our hands. Amen. Parish Office will be closed today. No Servants of the Holy Spirit tonight. Tuesday [09/05]: Mass will be celebrated at 7:30am Mass. Time change do to picnic set-up. No Choir Practice tonight. Wednesday [09/06]: Rosary at 11:30am in the church. Quilting noon to 4:00pm in the rectory basement. St Anne s Sewing 6:00pm in the Rectory basement. **Next Wednesday, September 13, Religious Education will begin with an opening Mass at 6:00pm with Fr Erbacher. All classes, middle school and high school and their families are welcome. Ice cream floats will follow Mass. Thursday [09/07]: Friday [09/08]: Sunday [09/10]: Picnic Sunday - Please look over the front of the bulletin and help in anyway you can. This is our biggest fundraiser and it takes everyone s help. Please help us defray the cost of postage by picking up your Religious Education Registration form in the back of church and returning it back to us. Middle School/High School classes will begin Wednesday, September 13th. More Catechists are always needed and welcomed to join our team. We have a great number of youth that attend our program. If you are interested, please contact Martha at mjschmitt@evdio.org or call , ext 45. Lessons plans are ready for you and very easy to follow. If you feel you are not qualified, just know that God does not always call the equipped - He equips the called. There is a trailer in the parking lot for you to bring your aluminum cans when you come to church or as you are driving by to go to work. Keep our parish in mind when you have your summer parties. Money raised from this project will go to the building of the new church. The Building For Our Future Campaign would like to reach out to former parishioners who might have an interest in giving to the new church. Engaged Encounter is a weekend experience with other engaged couples that affords time alone together to plan for sacramental marriage. Trained facilitators will lead the program on February 17-18, 2018, April 28-29, 2018 and September 8-9, 2018 at the Sarto Retreat Center.
