2 St. Mary Church Mass Schedule Saturday Vigil 5:30pm Sunday 7:00am & 9:15am Monday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30am Wednesday at 6:00pm Sacrament of Reconciliation at St. Mary Church Saturday 4:30-5:20pm; 1/2 hour before weekday Masses Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament 1/2 hour before weekday Masses Anointing of the Sick: Notify the parish office if there is a need for Father Gary or Father Jeff to administer Anointing of the Sick. Sacrament of Baptism: The joy of having children is fully realized in their Baptism within the faith community. Call the Parish Office regarding Baptism appointments. First time parents, please stop by and pick up a baptism video. Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office six months prior to setting a date. This will provide time for prayer, preparation and paperwork. Homebound Parishioners: Communion calls are made on Monday mornings to parishioners homes. Call the parish office if you would like a visit from our Eucharistic Minister. 3 Catechetical Sunday - This weekend, we celebrate Catechetical Sunday. We honor all who share our faith with others. During infant baptisms, we are reminded that the parents are the first and primary teachers of faith. Supporting them are the God-parents. The God-parents were chosen to make certain the baptized person is taught the faith and practicing it. The family unit is a crucial part of fostering a healthy spiritual life. That is why you are hearing Pope Francis and Church leaders focus on the family unit and how critical it is for our society. Know that Fr. Jeff and I pray for and support our parish families. We walk with you. Catechesis is the teaching of faith to children, young adults and adults. This education includes the teaching of Church Doctrine and the initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life. Catechesis aims at putting people in communion with Jesus Christ. Everything taught is in reference to Christ and His teachings. Those called to minister as Catechists must already have a relationship with Christ, yearn to learn more and desire to share their faith with others. This week, if you see a catechist, thank them for their time and talent that they give to our parish. Keep them in your prayers. Pray also for those who taught you about our faith. May God bless all those who teach our faith. Father Gary Dubois County Right to Life is joining a prayer vigil in front of the Planned Parenthood Office in Evansville (125 N Weinbach Ave). This is a prayer vigil to stop the sale of human body parts and end the scourge of abortion. The vigil is Tuesday, September 22 beginning in Evansville at 8:00 Eastern time. Vehicles will meet at and leave from the Subway parking lot in Huntingburg at 7:00 Eastern time. Communion to the Homebound. Are you unable to attend Mass but still want to receive the Eucharist? We have volunteers from the parish who bring Communion to the homebound on Monday morning beginning around 9:00am. If you would like to receive a visit and have someone bring you the Eucharist, call the Parish Office at and we will put you on the schedule. Reservations can be made by calling Tom Schmitt and leaving a message. Dear Parishioners, Thank you to all who made our Picnic a huge success. We have been praying for God s grace to bless our Parish Picnic and He did in many ways. I was humbled by the amount of workers that have been dedicating long hours the past several weeks preparing for the Picnic. A special thanks to the Picnic Stand Chairs. The quilts were beautiful. The Quilting ladies worked hard all year, thanks for once again turning small scraps into beautiful pieces of artwork. Once again the food was amazing!! My family and Fr. Jeff s family enjoyed the dinner and the helpful service you provided. Thank you to the parking crew, who packed them all on our grounds. As I was headed off to prepare for the Teen Mass, I was able to see our Scouts receiving directions to help clean up. To them and all who are cleaning the campus, Thank You. We have a great Parish and we want to invite and maintain large crowds so more can see St. Mary at its best. Many people saw that. I am so proud of St. Mary. I also want to thank the entire Parish staff; which completes a lot of behind the scenes work all year. Thanks for your work making the Picnic another success. No picnic would be possible without the hundreds of volunteers, to all, thank you and God bless you. The Picnic is certainly the largest fundraising effort we have for our Parish; however that is not the only reason to have a Picnic. It is also to share in fellowship and invite others to St. Mary. Throughout last week, I saw the spirit of fellowship that carried through the preparations for picnic day. I am sure there were little issues here and there, but I never once heard a volunteer complain. I firmly believe that God answered our prayers. It was a fun and dynamic Picnic. Without dedicated Parishioners, we would not have had similar results. Father Gary Bishop Charles C Thompson invites couples married 50 years and longer to celebrate with a Mass of Jubilee and reception following. The Golden Jubilee is Sunday, October 18 at 1:00pm at St. Joseph Church, Jasper. This Sunday, we recognize all those who have been called by God to teach the children and have had the courage to answer YES. God does not call the equipped - He equips the called.
