2 St. Mary Church Mass Schedule Saturday 4:30pm Sunday 7:00am and 10:00am Tuesday at 6:00pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30am Sacrament of Reconciliation at St. Mary Church First Friday 7:00-7:25am Saturday 3:30-4:10pm *On Saturdays when there are weddings, there will be no confessions. Anointing of the Sick: Notify the parish office if there is a need for Fr Erbacher to administer Anointing of the Sick. Sacrament of Baptism: Baptisms will take place the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month with Fr. Erbacher or Deacon John. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment. Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office six months prior to setting a date. This will provide time for prayer, preparation and paperwork. Homebound Parishioners: Communion calls are made on Monday mornings to parishioners homes. Call the parish office if you would like a visit from our Eucharistic Minister. Gift Bearers: If you would like to carry up the gifts at offertory, please let the ushers know. Another way to make sure your tithing is coming to St. Mary is to go electronic. This can be by electronic check payment from your bank or by ACH through the parish office. This is an easy way to make your donations on a recurring basis and not have to worry about your tithing envelopes. Your support is greatly appreciated. Presented by Sisters Kathy Bilskie and Celeste Boda. Workshop runs from 9:30am to 3:00pm. Cost is $75, includes lunch. Registration due by August 9. The back of the Community Center will be open Monday through Friday 7:30am until 4:00pm. The families that you provided food for were very appreciative and want you to know that your kindness will never be forgotten. Like to get involved? Bring a dish or work at the meals? 3 St Mary Church Picnic - September 10 Group quilt money can be sent in at any time. Not on a group? New people are always need to fill groups. A $35 donation is all it takes - no quilting required. If you have a group quilt at home, please bring it to the parish office so we can get ready for the quilt show. Grab Bags - Start looking for summer bargains - you can drop these items off at the parish office. Check out Walgreens and CVS summer clearance sales. Country Store - We have room in our freezers for fruit for the goodies that are made for the country store or make your jelly and we will store that until picnic time. Look for bargains on sugar, flour, nuts and throw away pans. We will be glad to store these items too. When making your summer time relish, make a couple extra for picnic Prayer for the Election of a Bishop O God, eternal shepherd, Who govern your flock with unfailing care, Grant in your boundless fatherly love A pastor for your Church Who will please you by his holiness And to us show watchful care. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. Theme Baskets - Start thinking about your theme baskets. If you visit other summer socials in the area, check their theme basket stand out and get some ideas. Some ideas: car care, movie baskets, gift cards basket, cooking basket, game baskets, homemade jelly and jam basket, etc. We have had so many great baskets in the past, looking forward to this year s picnic theme basket ideas. Volunteers - Our picnic is one of the best in the area, if not the best, but we are always looking for new ideas and volunteers. Stand Chairmen your workers list should be coming to you soon. Please check with your workers and update your list. If you need more help, contact the parish office. St. John Bosco Catholic Youth Ministry reaches out to youth in grades six through twelve from Holy Family Parish, Precious Blood Parish, St. Joseph Parish and St. Mary Parish. We invite young people to receive Jesus Christ s love and mercy through experiences, relationships, and prayer. We challenge young people to grow in personal relationships with Jesus Christ and one another as we encounter the life and mission of our Catholic faith community and become disciples of Jesus Christ to share the good news with our world. High School Youth Nights will be Wednesdays from 8:30-9:30pm at the Bosco House (when the school years begins). Wednesday Faith Minute video clip on Instagram and Facebook to offer encouragement and inspiration on the go. August 5: Strassenfest Wettlauf 5K - Bosco fundraiser - lots of help needed that day and August 3 & 4. August 13: Teen Mass and pizza at Precious Blood at 6:00pm. All are welcome. August 24: Adult Leadership for Bosco meeting at Jasper Engines Training Facility. All current and possible new volunteers are welcome. The more help we have the better our ministry is and the more we get to offer our young people. November 16-18: NCYC - National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis. Open hours/share an hour in the Divine Providence Eucharistic Adoration Chapel Monday: 8:00am - 9:00am - this hour will be shared with a current adorer Monday: 12:00 (Noon) - 1:00pm If you can fill this time slot, contact or dp@adorationmanager.com. Please spend an hour with Jesus. The Adoration Chapel is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are being called to pray at anytime of the day, please know that you are welcome to spend some prayer time in the Adoration Chapel. The Chapel is located in the Parish Center on the campus of Precious Blood Parish. New adorers and substitutes are always welcome. If you feel you would like to have a set day and time to pray and be in the Presence of God, please send an , call or text. The length of time you spend with Jesus is totally up to you. You may bring your own prayer books, use the books in the chapel, read the Bible, pray the Rosary or just sit, relax, and enjoy the sweet peace that comes from. Wednesday [07/26]: Rosary at 11:30am in the church. Quilting noon to 4:00pm in the rectory basement. St Anne s Sewing 6:00pm in the Rectory basement. Thursday [07/27]: St Vincent de Paul Meeting at 6:30pm in the Library. Friday [07/28]: Building For Our Future Thanks to all who have donated to our Cans for Campaign. There is a trailer in the parking lot for you to bring your aluminum cans when you come to church or as you are driving by to go to work. Keep our parish in mind when you have your summer parties. Money raised from this project will go to the building of the new church. The Building For Our Future Campaign would like to reach out to former parishioners who might have an interest in giving to the new church. If you have a friend or relative who you think might be interested in making a donation, please let the parish office know either by phone or what address we could send them some information. Sweet Corn for Sale!! Tom Miller will be selling sweet corn at $3 per dozen. All proceeds will go toward the new church. Call Tom at to place your order. September 10: St. Mary Church Picnic Ireland K of C/St. Mary Men s Softball schedule for this week is: Tuesday, July 25: 7:00 pm Cubs - Dodgers Wednesday, July 26: 6:45 pm Mets - Giants 8:00 pm Reds - Cardinals The Church League Softball Tourney will be held July 29 and 30. All are welcome to attend the games. The Ireland K of C will have concessions available. The tourney starts on Saturday at 2:00pm. The final game is scheduled for 4:00pm Sunday. Pairings for the first round are: Saturday 2:00pm Saturday 3:00pm Saturday 4:00pm Cubs - Cardinals Dodgers - Giants Orioles - Mets The Reds drew the bye and play at 6:00pm Saturday. On August 5, St. Mary Parishioners will cook and serve the Community Meal. Volunteers are needed. We are looking for someone to help co-ordinate the serving shift with Stan Epple. Call Stan at for more information. St. Mary serves the Community Meal the first Saturday of August, November, February and May. Please pray about becoming involved in this ministry. Please help us defray the cost of postage by picking up your Religious Education Registration form in the back of church and returning it back to us by August 7th. Ireland Elementary kids will begin classes on Tuesday, August 15th and Middle School/High School classes will begin Wednesday, September 13th. More Catechists are always needed and welcomed to join our team. We have a great number of youth that attend our program. If you are interested, please contact Martha at mjschmitt@evdio.org or call , ext 45. It is very rewarding to be able to pass on the Catholic faith to our youth. Lessons plans are ready for you and very easy to follow. If you feel you are not qualified, just know that God does not always call the equipped - He equips the called July 16 Irish Sweepstake Winner $100 Winner, Jeff & Jody Stenftenagel. Please send in your Picnic Quilt donations, either to your group leader or to the parish office. Not on a group? Would you consider making a donation of $35 and being added to a group? You do not have to quilt or buy materials for a quilt, just make a donation and your name will be added to a group quilt. Can t give $35? Any amount will be appreciated. The St Vincent de Paul Store needs a part time employee to price clothes and work as a cashier. This person would work 3 days a week including every other Saturday. Candidate must be able to work with the public and represent St. Vincent de Paul in a professional manner. Our employees are not permitted to purchase and resell donated items. Applications are available at the St Vincent de Paul Store in Jasper. Join the Diocesan Choir for the upcoming permanent Diaconate Ordination that will take place on Saturday, August 5, at 10:00am CDT at St. Benedict Cathedral. The Diocesan Choir is open to anyone in the 8th grade and older. Practices will be held in the St. Benedict Cathedral School basement on: Sunday, July 23: 2:00-4:30pm; Sunday, July 30, 2:00-4:30pm; and Tuesday, August 1, 6:00-7:30pm.
