The Historical Society will hold its next meeting on Sunday, October 19 at 1:00pm. The flag and flagpole erected by Eagle Scout Geordon Terwiske will be dedicated. The meeting following will feature the former players of the Ireland Merchants baseball team and others who played in the Deer Trail League. The public is invited. 3 St. Mary s Parishioners, By now, you should have received a letter inviting you to the Town Hall Meetings on November 2nd and 9th at 3:00pm in the church. The Long Term Planning Committee has been working for several years to develop a plan for our parish. A presentation of details about St. Mary Parish and future plans, as well as estimated costs, will be given at this meeting. Please make it a priority to attend. Any questions prior to these meetings can be directed to one of the following committee members: Fr. Applications can be found in the back of church. This weekend can make such a difference in the life of a young person. Adult candidates (typically those aged 23 and older) can also participate. You will meet youth and other adults from areas all around the Diocese and find out how God fits in your life. You can find out more information at: November 14 and 15 is the Community Days Event at Carson s in Jasper. We will be selling coupon books in the parish office for this event. The coupon book costs $5. With every book sold, we will make $5 that will go to the St. Mary Quilting Fund. We keep 100% of booklet sales. The coupon book contains a $10 off coupon, 30% off coupon, 25% off savings pass and much more. Help spread the word and help us sell these books. Great fundraiser for our parish!! Contact Sherri or Dianne for more info. We would like to put up pictures of our college young adults on the bulletin board in the back of church so that fellow parishioners can pray for them. Please drop off a wallet size picture with their name on the back (so we can get the picture back to you) to the parish office or drop in the collection basket. We are afraid if you leave them in the back of church they could get lost. Also parents, if you have a young adult that is serving our country or will be leaving soon to do so, we would like a picture and some information on where they will be. If you have any questions, please call the parish office. My name is Craig Shepherd, I am a member of Holy Family Boy Scout Troop 185 and hold the rank of Life Scout. I will complete my Eagle Scout project here at St. Mary Church. The playground on both sides of the road near the Community Center will be combined into one area - moving all playground equipment to one side of the road on the Parish grounds for the safety of children. Please be aware of areas that will be marked unavailable during my work days. I look forward to completing this project to have a nice area for those that use the playground. Spiritual Growth Conference presented by Fr. John Judie will be Saturday, October 25, 9:00am until 4:30pm, at St. Joseph Parish Center, Jasper. Optional Mass at 8:00am, with registration starting at 8:30am. Earlier bird registration of $25 per person requested ($35 per family) by October 21. Registration forms can be found in the back of church or check out the website at Pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at Monte Cassino Shrine are scheduled on Sundays in October at 2:00pm Central time. The public is invited. Monte Cassino Shrine is located one mile east of the St. Meinrad Archabbey on State Road 62. There are several openings at the Divine Providence Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel located at Precious Blood Parish. These openings occur one time monthly as follows: Open Hours 2:00pm on the 1st Sunday of the month 3:00pm on the 4th Sunday of the month 3:00am on the 4th Monday of the month This is open to anyone who would like to spend quiet time in prayer. This is a great opportunity for those who are thinking of taking an hour...one time per month. Please think about committing a quiet hour each month in prayer at the chapel. The Bob Murry Family In 2006, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, foundress of the Sister of Providence and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, was canonized a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. She is Indiana s first and America s eighth saint. It is a great honor to open her official shrine on Saturday, October 25. On behalf of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods you are invited to join them as they celebrate the grand opening. Come check out this imaginative way of reflecting on Scripture. There will be a call-out meeting for anyone interested in more information on the diocesan Pilgrimage For Life trip to Washington D.C., January The meeting will be Tuesday, October 21 at 6:00pm in Kundek Hall in St. Joe Parish Center. The trip is open to all in high school and older. If you can t make the meeting and are interested, contact Carley for trip information. We are headed to God s Country in Perry County on Sunday, October 26 for an All Saint s Day Party on their beautiful grounds. We will meet at the Bosco house at 1:00pm and arrive back by 7:00pm. Our Staff Shares: What Catholic education means to me: We can teach and develop moral character, influencing who they will become, not just teaching standards. The 2nd Town Meeting for the Bi-Centennial of the Town of Ireland will be Wednesday, October 22, at 7:00pm at the Ireland Historical Society. Future meetings for this event will be held the 4th Wednesdays of the month. There will be no meeting in the month of December. Lots of great ideas were presented at the last meeting - thanks to all that attended. The public is invited and we welcome new ideas and comments. The proposed date, at this time, for the Bi-Centennial is October 6, 7 & 8, A Memorial Service for our deceased brothers of Jasper Knights of Columbus Council #1584 who have passed away between October 23, 2013 and October 3, The service will be held on Monday, November 3, at 7:00pm at Holy Family Church, Jasper. All relatives, friends and general public are invited to attend.
