Call the parish office if you would like a visit from our Eucharistic Minister. Dear St. Mary Church and St. Anne Society, Thank you for the March 30 blood drive. We were very pleased with the drive overall, and the willingness of the donors to share this life saving gift. The efforts of St. Mary Catholic Church have always been greatly appreciated and their support of the community blood program will go a long way toward replenishing blood supplies and ultimately saving lives. In addition, we very much appreciate your efforts during this crucial time. You may be interested to know that 29 donors registered, 3 donors were deferred and 29 units were collected! We also registered 3 first time donors! Again, thank you for your contribution and ongoing support of this important community program. I look forward to working with you again on an upcoming blood drive. Dinners will be sold as drive-thru only for $10 each 10:30am to 1:00pm. Dinner options are 1/4 chicken or BBQ pork or 2 brats. Proceeds go to support the Venture Crew program. May 1: National Day of Prayer will be held at 6:30pm on the east side of the Dubois County Courthouse. Area Pastors will lead in various prayer topics. Those attending are encouraged to come early and bring a lawn chair. 10: Catholic Charities baby quilt show and continental breakfast from 8:30-11:00am at Kundek Hall, St. Joseph Church, Jasper. Tickets are $9 in advance and $10 at the door : Over 40 baby quilts will be up for auction through Catholic Charities. For more info go to babyquilts. 3 Dear Parishioners, Rejoice He is risen!!! Happy Easter. I would like to thank all who helped make the Liturgies of the Triduum so beautiful. I appreciate those who volunteered to have their feet washed. It can be a humbling experience for both those having their feet washed or for the one washing them. This act of service demonstrates the Servant Leadership our Lord asked of his disciples. The Good Friday Service was so moving. It is such a somber day and the service reminds how blessed we are to celebrate Mass. As you know Good Friday is the one day throughout the world Mass can t be celebrated. Recalling the Passion of our Lord voicing the responses of the people it is touching to see and hear and reminds of our Lord s great love for us. Holy Saturday is always full of so many liturgical details. The Decorating committees did and excellent job. Both Parish looked so wonderful. The Fire was a beautiful sight and the Choirs did an excellent job at all of the Masses. We want to welcome once again our newest members to the Church you as our newest member of the Church. Thanks to all those who helped in their preparations. Easter does not end with Easter Sunday, so let us enjoy this festive season. Rejoice in our Lord s Mercy on Divine Mercy Sunday. We along with many other parishes will be bringing in new members to our Catholic Faith. It has been such a pleasure growing with them on this journey. Martha St. Mary Preschool On behalf of St. Mary Preschool, we d like to say THANK YOU to those of you who came to our fundraiser last weekend!! It was wonderful to see so many friendly faces supporting our preschool! We d also like to thank Kim and Jennifer from Clara Mill Designs for their time and effort during the fundraiser! We are hosting informal gatherings for non-practicing Catholics who seek answers to questions about their faith and who have a desire to return to the church. Gatherings will be held for 6 consecutive weeks on Monday evenings beginning April 28 at 6:30pm in the parish Activity Center (behind the church) at St. Mary Church, 317 N Washington, Huntingburg. Ensuring Your Child s School Is Safe Every teacher, coach, and volunteer who works with children in the diocese s parishes and schools must have a background check before he or she is permitted to work in any school-or parish-related job or activity that involves contact with children. But what about the children who attend non-catholic private or public schools? Talk with school administrators and find out what steps they take to protect children from harm. Suggest that they review other abuse prevention programs to ensure that their policies and practices are up to date. And demand that all employees and volunteers who work in the school be properly screened, including background checks, before they are allowed to be near your children. St. Mary s Bus Trip is Thursday, April 24 Itineraries can be found in the back of church. We will leave after the 7:30am Mass and head to Covington, Kentucky where we will board the Belle of Cincinnati. We will be having lunch on the 2 hour cruise. After our cruise we will hop on the bus and head to Jungle Jim s International Food Market. We will return around 8:30pm. Join us for lots of fun, food and fellowship. Ryan Hilderbrand and St. Mary Church, Huntingburg will begin at 3:00pm. The mowing in the cemetery has or will begin soon. Please pick up anything in or on the ground. Because of the high winds, please properly attach and mark with a name. Loose items found will be put in the gazebo. If not claimed, they will be disposed of. We have a beautiful cemetery, let s all work together and keep it that way. Ireland Goes to Alaska Please join us in an informational meeting on Tuesday, April 29 at 6:00pm at the Shamrock Café in Ireland. We will be talking about the agenda for our trip to Alaska in May of Trip seating is limited - so if you have ever wanted to go to Alaska be sure and come. Pope John Paul II, Christifideles Laici, #53 The Fighting Irish and Lucky Irish 4-H Meeting will be on Monday, April 21 at 6:30pm at the Ireland K of C. Members will have a special guest to welcome back home from the service. This past 4-H member will be sharing some of his experiences as a Medic in the U.S. Army. Fighting Irish members - we will also be collecting money/gift cards and making cards for Charlotte s Secret Shoppers that we discussed at our last meeting. More details will be in an . The league is open to men of the parish who are 16 years or older or any Ireland K of C member. If you were on a team roster last year, your team captain will contact you to see if you want to play this year. Anyone else that would like to join should contact Fred Boehm at Those wishing to play on the softball field must have their own personal insurance coverage. If an injury occurs, the Diocese of Evansville and St. Mary Church will not be liable for medical costs. A waiver must be signed by everyone participating in our softball league, especially those under the age of 18.
