2 St. Mary Church Mass Schedule Saturday 4:30pm Sunday 7:00am & 10:00am Tuesday at 6:00pm Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7:30am *When there is a funeral, there is no weekday morning scheduled Mass. Confessions First Friday 6:45-7:10am Saturday 3:30-4:10pm or by appointment at any time. *On Saturday when there is a wedding, there will be no confessions. Anointing of the Sick: If facing surgery, dealing with a chronic illness, serious accident or nearing the end of life, notify the parish office if you would like Fr. Erbacher to administer Anointing of the Sick. Sacrament of Baptism: Baptisms will take place the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month with Fr. Erbacher. Call the Parish Office to make an appointment. Sacrament of Marriage: Parishioners who wish to be married at St. Mary Church are asked to contact the parish office no later than six months prior to their wedding date. This will provide time for prayer, preparation and paperwork. Homebound Parishioners: Communion calls are made on Tuesday mornings to parishioners homes. 3 From-the-Desk-of-the-Pastor: 1.) Thank you for the good wishes and greetings to me on my 47th Ordination Anniversary on March 25; I feel very blessed in serving as a priest, and truly feel honored in serving you as your pastor. Meeting different parishioners, your families and children, is always a great joy for me. 2.) March 31, Laetare Sunday, (4th Sunday of Lent), Let us Rejoice! We have so many things to rejoice in as a parish: Confirmation of 52 students held on February 24, upcoming First Communion of 34 children on April 28, 2 adults being received into our Catholic Faith on May 5, May Crowning on May 12, and the wonderful planning and participation for Easter, April 21. What great joy within our community of St. Mary. 3.) Our new church building, progress continues, and we are hoping and praying, with good weather, to have official dedication on March 21, 2020 ( maybe if all goes well, even sooner). So thrilled am I as I daily watch the progress, and work especially with (Pat Gress and Patrick Mendel) for guidance and consultation with the decision making bodies of Parish Council and Finance Committee, may all be blessed for your time and efforts...god Bless Us All! Why We Believe - Adult Faith Formation Monday & Tuesday Evenings at 6:30pm Social Hall - Upstairs Classroom - All Are Welcome! April 1 & 2: The Eucharist: Jesus Real Presence? Join us as we explore the teachings of the Eucharist - How the Body of Christ we receive at each Mass is compared to the Manna (Bread from Heaven) in the desert that God provided for the people being led out of Egypt by Moses. Learn more about the Jewish Passover and the unblemished lamb that was sacrificed in Exodus. How do these two stories relate to the sacrifice at the altar that is carried out at each and every Mass in our Church? Why does our Catholic Church refer to the Eucharist as the Source and Summit of our lives? Come join us and learn.. April 8 & 9: Why Confess to a Priest? Did Jesus arrange for us to confess our sins to a priest? April 15 & 16: Do Catholics Worship Mary? What does the Bible teach about her? April 22 & 23: Purgatory and Prayers for the Dead? Where is Purgatory in the Bible? Why do Catholics pray for the dead? We will be collecting plastic Wal-Mart, Rural King, IGA.. shopping bags. These bags will be turned into sleeping mats / blankets for the homeless. Being made out of plastic they are waterproof and very easy to keep clean, while providing warmth and comfort for those in need. The Branchville prison ministry has taught the prisoners how to crochet these mats. This gives these gentlemen who have made some bad choices in their lives an opportunity to use their time helping others while giving them a purpose each day. Our religious ed kids will also benefit from this project as they learn to cut strips and loop them together to make the ball of yarn that we will send to the prison, A great opportunity for them to do service for others. Each matt takes about 1500 bags. St. John Bosco Youth Ministry St. John Bosco Catholic Youth Ministry reaches out to youth in grades 6 through 12 from St. Mary, Holy Family, Precious Blood, and St. Joseph. Wednesday, April 3, 7:00-8:00pm, The Biblical Roots of the Eucharist Wednesday, April 10, 7:00-8:00pm, Mass: the Sacrament of the Eucharist The Lenten Banners have been hung in the front of church. Starting from left to right, they represent mountains, crown of thorns, three nails, three crosses, sunrise and palms. 4 This Week s Parish Events Sunday [03/31]: Catholic Home Missions Appeal this weekend. Right now, over 40% of dioceses in the U.S. are considered mission territory because they are unable to fund essential pastoral work in their communities. Your donations support programs, such as religious education, seminary formation, and lay ministry training, to build vibrant faith communities right here in the U.S. Please be generous - envelopes can be found in your March packet. Mass will be celebrated at 7:00am and 10:00am. No Sunday School - Spring Break Monday [04/01]: Quilting at 5:00pm in the Rectory quilting room. Why We Believe Adult Bible Study at 6:30pm in the upstairs of the Social Hall. This week the topic is The Eucharist: Jesus Real Presence? Servants of the Holy Spirit Prayer Group at 7:00pm in the Library in the Social Hall. Tuesday [04/02]: The Prayer Warriors and Fr. Simon Natha will visit St. Mary as part of their monthly pilgrimage of prayer for the community. All parishioners are invited - please come and fill the church, they will be praying for St. Mary Parish. Mass will be celebrated at 6:00pm. Way of the Cross after Mass. Simon Natha, Associate Pastor, will visit St. Mary Church on Tuesday, April 2 at 9:30am as part of their monthly pilgrimage of prayer for the community. The group will pray the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy and then celebrate Mass. Mass will be offered for the intentions of St. Mary Parish community. All parishioners are invited to join the group for Mass and prayer. A big Thank You to everyone who made the March 15, St. Mary Fish Fry such a huge success! After the expenses were taken out, St. Mary s Religious Education program made about $ Thanks to everyone who bought dinners and helped with serving the meals. The support of our parish is very much appreciated. The Ireland St. Anne Society has mailed their scholarship letters for graduating Seniors to all current St. Anne members who have their dues paid to date. If you did not receive a letter and think you should have, call Stacy Weisman at St. Mary Parish would like to congratulate Ashley Sander who recently received the St. Maria Goretti Award. Ashley was nominated and was chosen as someone who lives her faith and helps out in the community. Congratulations!! We are currently in the Lenten Season. Each week, there will be different ideas on things you can try for the week..
