Parish News Eucharistic Adoration If you have some extra time this summer on Monday mornings, you may like to drop in to Eucharistic Adoration. If is offered every Monday from 8:00 am - Noon, except holiday Mondays, in our daily Mass chapel. Stay as short or as long as you like. Children are welcome. These works benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression and natural disasters. The rosary is said at Lumen Christi Monday through Friday in the daily Mass chapel at 7:15 am before daily Mass A half hour before funerals. Please join us any time.

3 LUMEN CHRISTI CATHOLIC COMMUNITY Today s Readings John the Baptist This year, the Church has the opportunity for a more intense celebration of the birth of John the Baptist, who is often described as the last of the Old Testament prophets and the bridge between Judaism and Christianity. More commonly, John is known as the precursor of our Lord Jesus Christ. All the Gospels report John s basic message: Repent, the kingdom is near at hand. One greater than I is coming. Though he was a wandering preacher who dressed in camel skins and ate grasshoppers, John s legacy is one of true royalty. His origins are similar to those foretold by God through the prophet Isaiah: You are my servant, he said to me, Israel through whom I show my glory (Isaiah 49:3). Safe Environment Practices All volunteers who volunteer with minors and vulnerable adults must complete initial Essential Three credentials. This includes a live VIRTUS: Protecting God s Children for Adult session, sign a code of conduct and submit a criminal background check. Once these essential three are in place in one Catholic parish or school in the archdiocese, you do not need to repeat them. Your records may be shared, with your written consent, between parishes. If it has been more than three years since you completed the essential three, there is a process to update your training, background check and code of conduct. The Parish Ambassador will support solidarity within Minnesota s Catholic community and have an interest in talking about civic responsibility from a non-partisan, faithbased perspective. The MCC is the public policy voice of the Catholic Church in Minnesota and advocates on a broad range of issues related to Catholic social teaching. Quo Vadis Youth Vocation Camps July 8 11 : Quo Vadis Camp for Young Men July : Quo Vadis Camp for Young Women St. John Vianney College Seminary, U of St. Thomas Each session begins on Sunday with 4:15 pm registration, followed by 5:00 pm Sunday Mass and concludes on Wednesday at 1:00 pm. The camp includes Mass, prayer, talks, field trips to visit religious communities, confession, rosary along with lots of fun and recreation! Quo Vadis is a camp experience for youth ages to learn that nothing is more important than discovering God s will for your life and living it! Space is limited.
