Disaster Response Training October 27 The needs in North and South Carolina for help in recovery from Hurricane Florence and now in Florida from Hurricane Michael will be on-going for some time. There will be a Disaster Relief Training event at North Bristol Baptist Church, 46 Church St, Bristol, VA 24201, from 9am to 4pm on Saturday October 27. If you would like to attend this training, please contact me. You can also do an on-line training through both the BGAV & SBCV websites. We are developing a work team to return to the affected areas November If you are interested, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can include you in the planning process. Thank You Trina! This past Sunday we said Thank You to Trina Vickers, our church secretary, on the occasion of her 5 th service anniversary with ABC. We appreciate her great work in support of our church family and ministries. Trina is an important part of our ministry team. Be sure to tell her Thanks! when you see her in person. Trina will be out of the office October enjoying a well-deserved vacation. During her absence, Parke and I will hold down the fort but may not be in the office full-time from 8am- 5pm. If you need us, please call us at the church and leave a message on one of our extensions (Bill ext. 32, Parke ext. 24). We will also be available on our cell phones. We will get back to you as quickly as possible. Also, during Trina s absence next week, we will not send out The Banner. Please note that this week s Banner is a double issue covering the next two weeks. Be in prayer for Trina and Ricky to be safe and enjoy their time of vacation and rest. BGAV Annual Meeting Our Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) annual meeting is scheduled for November at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Glen Allen, VA. This will be the 195 th annual meeting of BGAV, and we can send up to 15 messengers. If you are interested in attending and would be willing to serve as a messenger from our church, please let me know so that we can get you registered. The keynote speaker will be Todd Bolsinger from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is author of Canoeing the Mountains and a frequent speaker, consultant, and blogger. The conference centers on Living the Story with its theme verse being John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches.
