Lyn Robbins shares some interesting thoughts on a hymn we will plan to sing this coming Sunday. Few songs set forth our theology better than the lyrics from To God Be the Glory by Fanny J. Crosby. God loved the world so much that he gave us His Son who died to pay the price for our failures and to allow us to go to heaven. This is the only perfect way that we can be bought back. God promises even to the worst of us a pardon if we trust Him. His teachings are great. What He has done and is doing is great. We rejoice because of Jesus. And in the end, when we see Him as He is, nothing we now know can compare to what is in store for us. Wow. When you take the rhythm and the rhymes out of it and just read it as a paragraph, it is striking how much of our faith is wrapped up in one song. But then there is a kicker, for I have left out the refrain. The punch line is Praise the Lord, and give Him the glory. Rick Warren says it this way: It is not about you. Henry Blackaby tells us to find out where God is working and join Him there. Paul said that we are saved by grace through faith, not of ourselves. It is easy to reduce our faith to a paragraph and conclude that it is about us, about our sins and our salvation and our glorious eternal life to come. And God, who loves us without condition, always has His eyes on us. God patiently waits for us, for our repentance and our acceptance and our discipleship. But we must strive for more. Just because God will allow us to focus on ourselves does not mean we should. To take the paragraph of our salvation and crescendo to the refrain of His glory is a dramatic and a mature turn. It is the one who knows Christ as Lord as well as Savior who turns the attention back to Him. The newly saved, the child, the carnal Christian says, What a great thing I have found Jesus. The growing disciple sees her own redemption and sees God s people rejoice and says, Give Him the glory, great things He has done! See you Sunday, singing God s song to the glory of God! Parke

The Craft Class is taking a Road Trip to Kingsport, TN on Tuesday, April 16. We will leave the Church parking lot promptly at 10:30a.m. Our first stop will be Zaxby's for lunch, they have several different chicken salads, chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, etc. After lunch we will visit the Shopping Center next door that houses Michael's, Dollar Tree, Kohl's, Dress Barn, Lifeway Book Store, etc. Then we will go to Ben Franklin Craft Store. We will finish our shopping spree at Hobby Lobby. Then we will head towards home. We will make a detour at Exit 7 for an afternoon treat at Sweet Frog! Even if you are a diabetic you can also enjoy this sweet treat because they have sugar free soft serve and fresh fruits/nuts for toppings. Come join the fun!
