Dear Abingdon Baptist Family, Perhaps you ve been hearing some conversations that have been taking place about the future of Abingdon Baptist Church. Several have been gathering informally to simply talk about the possibility of engaging in a new church growth initiative. Don t worry if you haven t been in on any of those conversations yet, it s just talking and everyone will have opportunity to get in on this. The problem with taking such a bold step is getting everyone on the same page. One of those ways is to become informed about the people we might try to reach in our world. Last week I had placed in our Library several books on the subjects of church growth and leadership. They are from a variety of writers with different approaches and points of view. Nonetheless these are the kinds of preparation that will allow us to move forward with at least some base of knowledge. I urge you to go by the library, skim half a chapter and check one out that grabs your interest to read. Everyone can learn something that will move Abingdon Baptist Church forward. On a personal note, over the past month or so, I ve been fighting some health issues. Last week I found that once again, I have an active case of Mononucleosis. The most prominent symptom is extreme fatigue. That means there will be a goodly number of things that I will only be able to do as my strength allows. Mono usually lasts from two weeks to several months and the only treatment is rest, rest, and more rest. I will, however, do as much as I can, as long as I can, for as many as I can. I want to pre-apologize for the times I will not be where I really want to be. I will try to make up for my absence by making more phone calls. And, as always, if you need me, tell me and I will be there. Finally, if you think about it, while you re praying, please mention my name. I would really be thankful. Your pastor, Steven P.S.
