Do you know that Christ is your Life but still feel stuck? Maybe you aren t the one who is stuck but you know someone who knows the New Covenant but is. In this webinar you will hear about how to deal with these barriers. One of the key elements of this webinar will be the emphasis on listening to God to allow the Holy Spirit to reveal your stuck places. Bring a digital picture of your loved ones who are homebound or in nursing homes. You may use professional pictures from other photographers if you have a release form. Dear Church Family, I can t say enough about how meaningful this Lenten season, Holy Week, and Easter Sunday was to me this year. The Lenten season was just as it should be, an extended traverse through the roughest of places in my life. It was a time to confront my own sin and shortcomings and find myself unable to assail them. The Lenten Luncheons and Sunday Worship was just right for such a journey. Then there was Holy Week; that period where our unavoidable need for the cross becomes clear. Then beginning the week with Palm Sunday and the culmination of our journey with our own sin on Maundy Thursday was for me quite moving. I want to thank Parke, the choir, the flower committee and others too numerous to mention by name for their exceptional commitment to preparation, thoughtful planning, and spot-on expressions of the sentiments of the season. I don t think I ll be forgetting Lenten Sketches any time soon. I am most thankful for Easter Sunday morning worship. It was truly a joyful celebration of Jesus resurrection. It was a moment of release to utter those wonderful words: He is risen! and hear my brothers and sisters in the faith reply: He is risen, indeed! Again, many thanks to Parke, the choir, the flower committee, our musicians, the communion committee, ushers, greeters I could go on and on in thanks for the ways I was touched by your service. The best news is that the resurrection is not over. The resurrection of our Savior is just the beginning. We have been set free to be the person we were intended to be all along. Christ s crucifixion gave the forgiveness we needed to move beyond our stuckness. Christ s resurrection gives us unlimited courage for now death has been rendered impotent in its hold upon God s children! May we celebrate all day, every day; Christ is risen! The new Celebrating Grace hymnals are in the pews and plans continue for the Hymnal Dedication & Celebration on April 18 at the 11am and 6pm services! The old hymnals are being offered to the families and donors who placed them and there are still others available if you would like one. Donations will be accepted for these, if you so desire. You are encouraged to stop by the church and pick one up. The remaining hymnals will be offered to nursing homes and other organizations and group homes. If you have suggestions of desired locations, please let us know. We are willing to make a special order of the new hymnal if you want to have a personal copy. Please let us know by Sunday, May 16, if you want hymnals. Colors available for this order are: Navy, Burgundy, Forest Green, and Ivory. All About Seniors... If you have anyone in your family that was ever a member of the Shalom Singers, please tell them that the Abingdon Baptist Church is honoring them with Shalom Singer Weekend June 25, 26, 27. They should have received a notice earlier with the information. If not, please let the church office, me, or Trula Harris know. Be sure to tell them to put this on their calendar in big print so they will not miss it. Shalom Singers were a part of the church history so it is important to include that in the Centennial celebration. More information will be available soon. What a wonderful Easter weekend was enjoyed by the church family and guests. Thursday night was a most moving service and the Sunday morning worship was wonderful. It was an experience with our family that we will not forget. Our ministers and church staff deserve many thanks for all the time they gave. I heard of lots of recipes from the cookbook that were used for Easter dinner. One that I remember was Carol Clifton's corn pudding. "Delicious" was the message. It has been lots of fun to hear from so many different people about recipes that have been tried. wanda
