Pastor Mike ask me to pass along some thoughts for the Banner this week, so here goes. We have been talking for some weeks now about getting together our personal story about one, two or three of our best experiences that we have had here at Abingdon Baptist Church. We have the opportunity to video this story or write it down for presentation or publication to the congregation. You can sign off on your story or just write it up and present it to the Transition Team unsigned if that is your desire. You do not have to put your name on it, either way is fine. So far, we have some videos made of people relating their stories of something that took place that made an impact on them and what it has really meant to them over a period of time. We also have some in writing that relate the same importance as the ones on videos. These will probably be stories of the heart. They can be long or short stories. They can contain as much or as little as it takes to tell the story and what it means to you and the impact that it has had on you and those people that surround you. As we talk about this subject I am reminded of an old song that I know that most of us are familiar with but that we do not sing as much anymore. The title is I Love to Tell the Story It goes like this: I love to tell the story of unseen things above, Of Jesus and His glory, Of Jesus and His love, I love to tell the story, because I know tis true, It satisfies my longings, as nothing else can do. I love to tell the story! Twill be my theme in glory To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love. So you can see that here is a powerful story told in very few words and with very few sentences. We all have these stories of our personal experiences that we have had here at Abingdon Baptist Church. Some of us may have been here 85 years and others may have only been here for 8.5 years or less. But these stories that we have of these experiences are important to us as individuals and they are important to us as a congregation. We are all here together and we all come together to have our souls fed from the same Spirit. So you see if one of us has had a positive experience that is very important to us as an individual then the relating of that story to others may kindle the same or other positive experiences for other individuals. We feed off of each other. If we feed each other positive thoughts instead of negative thoughts, then we will run on positive energy. Positive energy will run a lot longer than negative energy and will run with a lot less effort. So, just start humming or singing this song that I just quoted and let s get those stories of those experiences rolling. You can do it, I have confidence in you that you can. Roger
