2 APRIL 8 11:00am Worship God s Best Kept Secret Genesis 3:4-5; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Genesis 2:9; Galatians 2:20 Rev. Mark Maulding 6:00pm Sunday Night alive The Uprising of Fellowship Psalm 133; John 20:1-31; Acts 8:26-40 Food & Fellowship & Food For Thought Phrases from Parke... The Sunday after Easter is traditionally known as Low Sunday. By some snooty writers, it is referred to as Pascha clausum, signifying the close of the Easter Octave. BUT, it's also called Quasimodo Sunday. Are you KIDDING?? How did we not know that? We just figured that it was called Low Sunday because attendance was so low. Now that we know it's Quasimodo Sunday, the whole worship service will be so much more fun! More info: The first Sunday after Easter, is traditionally known, primarily in France and other parts of Europe, as "Quasimodo Sunday" because of the beginning words of the Introit for the day which come from 1 Peter 2:2,3: (here it is in Latin & English) Quasi modo geniti infantes, rationabile, sine dolo lac concupiscite ut in eo crescatis in salutem si gustastis quoniam dulcis Dominus: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. And of course, Victor Hugo's character was so named because he was found, as an infant, in the vestibule of Notre Dame on the morning of Quasimodo, Mark Maulding, author of the book God s Best Kept Secret will be our guest preacher. Mark is founder of Grace Life International, one of the largest Christian counseling and teaching ministries in America. A speaker, counselor, and leadership coach, Maulding is a regular blogger who is passionate about sharing the transforming message of God's grace with a world in desperate need of it. He and his wife, Ellen, have four adult children, including a daughter with Down syndrome who, along with her three brothers, recently finished college. They live near Charlotte, North Carolina. Everyone in worship will receive a FREE gift. Let s go against tradition and NOT have a Low Sunday. Together we can make it a high attendance Sunday! See you Sunday, as we worship our gracious God, Parke
