Game time is 6:10 p.m. The bus will leave FBC at 2:00 p.m. with a late arrival home. The cost is $45 for your ticket and fuel. Supper will be on your own at the ball park. 4 Micah on April 23! HAPPY MOTHER S DAY We will honor our mothers with a Pancake Breakfast on Mother s Day, Sunday, May 13, at 8:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The men will be cooking. Children are welcome also! BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK FBC will be responsible for this ministry during the month of May. To help, you may bring any of the items listed below and place them in the stairwell by the office. You may also donate money for the purchase of items. Please indicate Blessings in a Backpack on your envelope. Breakfast Bars, Oatmeal, Cereal Bowls, Grits, Granola Bars, Fruit & Grain Bars, (No Pop Tarts), Soups, Canned Meat, Meat Sticks, Ravioli Type Product, Canned Vegetables, Canned Fruit, Cheese Sticks, Raisins, Animal Crackers, Cheese & Crackers, Graham Crackers, Applesauce, 100% Juice, Fruit Snacks Pudding (2% Milk). The last day to donate is Wednesday, April 25. If you are interested in helping pack the bags, we will be packing on Thursday, April 26, in the Fellowship Hall at 4:00 pm. SERVE TEAMS We are putting together Serve Teams for our church. These teams will serve a three-fold purpose: When disasters strike, these teams will be able to mobilize to help serve in their specific areas These teams will be available to help anyone in need in our community These teams will help our church during upcoming Serve Days where our church will take a Saturday and help those in need in our community. Currently, we have 4 serve teams for you to choose from: Team 1- Outdoor Cleanup Team 2- Ramp & Outdoor Construction Team 3- Painting & Indoor Cleanup Team 4-Visitation If you would like to sign up, there are 2 ways to do so: 1. Fill out a Connection Card with your name, phone number, and the number of the Service Team that interests you 2. Call the church office and provide your name, phone number, and the number of the Service Team that interests you Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God. If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. 5 CHURCH-WIDE PARK Sunday, May 20 We have 50 tickets to the Birmingham Barrons vs the Montgomery Biscuits baseball game. The bus will leave FBC at 1:30 p.m. and return around 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $16, which includes a meal. (Tickets for children 2 and under are free.) There will be no afternoon or evening activities at the church so everyone can attend the game. If you are interested, contact the church office by Sunday, May 6. TOMMY PIERCE RETIREMENT CELEBRATION Sunday, April 29 There will be a celebration service for Tommy s 41 years of full-time music ministry. The service will start at 3:00 p.m., preceded by a choir rehearsal at 2:00 p.m. The songs are Someday my Lord Will Come, Midnight Cry, The Majesty and the Glory, and Worthy Is the Lamb. A Reception will follow. FBC will take a bus, immediately after the morning worship service, eat lunch and arrive at First Baptist Boaz by 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to ride. Continue to pray for Tommy. NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER RALLY Thursday, May 3, 12:00 noon at the Blount County Courthouse. Lunch will follow in the FBC Fellowship Hall. CHILDREN S SPRING CHOIR CONCERT Sunday, May 6, 6:00 p.m. Come and enjoy this exciting time with our children and their directors! WELCOME CENTER VOLUNTEERS are needed on Sunday mornings. She made several remarks and I thought seemed anxious to get into conversation. I wondered if the Lord might have a message for her through me, so I looked up to Him for guidance. She told me that she had been visiting a friend who was in the hospital and then remarked, "I don't expect to you remember me, but I shall never forget you." I looked surprised, so she explained that she had attended some children's meetings which we had held when she was quite a child. She went on to tell me that one evening at the close of the meeting I had asked her when she was going to give her heart to the Lord Jesus. "Those words stuck to me," she said," and I never see you without thinking of them." I then asked her if she had done this and was pleased to find out that she had been saved for twelve years, and so we were able to rejoice together. The incident she referred to had passed from my memory, but no doubt the Lord used those words as a link in the chain of blessing to her soul. How often we find that the Lord uses the personal word to bring souls into blessing. We notice this especially with the children in Sunday School, and oh! what wisdom we need to speak the right word at the right time. How carefully we need to watch each one, and be much in prayer for them too. (BibleTruthPublishers.com)

To give an offering is to give above our tithe to support other ministry endeavors not completely covered in the general fund of our church. Here at FBCO, we have numerous designated funds to which we can all contribute during the course of a year. During the months of March, April and May we will place emphasis on Disaster Relief - A Fund that provides assistance to Blount County, Alabama and worldwide during disaster, Annie Armstrong- North American Mission emphasis.
