3 July 16, 2017 Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page Three From the desk of the Pastor... Thank You, Bob!!! For the past 25 years we have been blessed as a parish to have the faithful service of Mr. Bob Disandro. While his title may be Maintenance Engineer, he has been that and so much more. On most weekday mornings at 5:15am his headlights can be seen as he carefully looks over the property for anything that may have happened during the night the exception being when he arrives even earlier to snow plow the parking lot before the morning Masses. Then begins his routine of tending to all the working parts of our physical plant from changing light bulbs to major boiler issues. He attends to the needs of our tenant(s); sets up and takes down tables for all of our events; proactively maintains our buildings and equipment; waxes floors; replaces tiles; calls in service personnel and oversees maintenance and repair work; orders supplies; ensures safety compliance; handles our emergencies; etc. In short, he manages our facilities with great care and skill. We have been blessed. Bob will deservedly be retiring the first week of August. We will miss him. Not wanting to be the center of attention, he has declined the offer to have a formal gathering to say thank you however, should you see him over the next few weeks, please feel free to express your gratitude and to wish him well. Bob has been very ably assisted in recent years by Mr. Brad Koenig. Brad has a big personality and can be seen (or heard) on most days cleaning the church and buildings or riding the BobCat mowing the grass or clearing the sidewalks of snow. I am pleased to relate that Brad will be our new Maintenance Engineer. I am sure he will do a great job. Wonderful Presentation I would like to formally thank Joe Paolelli for his really fine presentation in defense of the faith entitled, Reasons to Believe. Many folks came out and were enriched as Joe shared his wonderful teaching skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for sharing the faith. It was recorded and we hope to have in available for viewing soon on our website. Thanks For Your Patience Work continues in our church improving the lighting, sound and visual enhancements to our worship space. A new dimming system is being installed this week and stenciling has now moved from the soffit to the sanctuary walls. You will also notice that the parking lot has been newly seal coated and striped. Thank you, especially to our weekday Mass people and volunteers, for your patience during the disruption. Have a blessed week,
