Thank You FCC and Dr. Jesus Rene Dadivas Last Saturday evening, as the Cubs were on the brink of winning the National League Championship Series, the FCC (Filipino Christian Community of OLR) hosted an evening of song and dance offered by our parishioners, entitled, Let s Dance: A Dinner Dance Entertainment. After gathering for delicious food and drink and fellowship, we saw the lights dim in Paluch Hall and we marveled at the wonderful local talent that filled the evening. Participants included: Toni Brana and Joe Leone, Mary Snyder, the Tamaraw Dancers, Rob Sadlowski, Jody Schuth, Emma Schuth, D Bros D, David and Jane Cannon, Tony Demavivas, the Donahue Children, Rita Reed Antoni, and Rex Demavivas. Following the program the parish hall became a dance club with people of all ages joining in. It was really a joyful evening. I wish to congratulate and thank the event committee and all FCC officers, members and patrons who made it such a success. In a special way I extend my heart-felt gratitude to Dr. Rene Dadivas who will be completing his term as FCC President and turning over the reins to Phey Rey. Dr. Rene served as the first president of FCC at its inception 36 years ago in 1980 and returned to leadership at my request these past several years. He s done a great job. Over the years the FCC has wonderfully supported our parish with opportunities for fellowship, worship and financial support. With Phey Rey s leadership, we know that all is in good hands for the future. A Novena For Our Nation With the Nov. 8th election approaching, the Knights of Columbus have released a novena addressed to Mary, the Immaculate Conception, who is the patroness of the United States. The novena consists of nine days of prayer, starting Oct. 30 and running through Nov. 7, the eve of the election. In 1791, America s first bishop, John Carroll, entrusted his diocese which was the entire country at the time to Mary. The U.S. bishops affirmed that dedication in 1846, declaring Mary, the Immaculate Conception to be patroness of the United States. The novena prayer comes from the 1959 dedication of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. It was approved that year by Cardinal Patrick O'Boyle, then-archbishop of Washington. Parishes, families and individuals are invited to participate in the novena. Most Holy Trinity: Our Father in Heaven, who chose Mary as the fairest of your daughters; Holy Spirit, who chose Mary as your Spouse; God the Son, who chose Mary as your Mother, in union with Mary we adore your majesty and acknowledge your supreme, eternal dominion and authority. Most Holy Trinity, we put the United States of America into the hands of Mary Immaculate in order that she may present the country to you. Through her we wish to thank you for the great resources of this land and for the freedom which has been its heritage. Through the intercession of Mary, have mercy on the Catholic Church in America. Grant us peace. Have mercy on our president and on all the officers of our government. Grant us a fruitful economy, born of justice and charity. Have mercy on capital and industry and labor. Protect the family life of the nation. Guard the precious gift of many religious vocations. Through the intercession of our Mother, have mercy on the sick, the tempted, sinners on all who are in need. Mary, Immaculate Virgin, our Mother, Patroness of our land, we praise you and honor you and give ourselves to you. Protect us from every harm. Pray for us, that acting always according to your will and the will of your divine Son, we may live and die pleasing to God. Amen. Have a blessed week,

We are offering training for new altar servers on November 8 &15 at 6pm in the church. This is a wonderful way to serve Our Lord, our priests and our parish. Please download a registration form at olransom.org or pick up a form from the Religious Education or Ministry Center Offices. Thank you. Remember those hot days last Summer when you wished it would cool off a bit? Well, you got your wish. Yep, Summer has gone, the leaves are turning colors and falling and blowing around. But let s be positive about it, we re still here. This time of year will be harder on some of our friends than on us. Gas and electricity bills will be higher in order to keep our families warm and safe. Most of us can handle these increases, but for others, not so much. We also consume more food in the fall and winter months. That is the reason we are compelled to constantly seek your help. The demands on our pantry could be greater in these cold times, so please keep up your support so we can continue on with our mission to feed and clothe the poor. As far as what we need? lots of items. But we do seem to have enough pasta and pasta sauce this month. And lastly, Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. Your response has always been over the top in your support, and we thank you for that help. We can t do much without you. You ve been great, many thanks, again! Tickets at $40 each will be sold starting on November 15. Young Adult Group On Saturday, November 5, the Young Adult Group will be hosting a day of prayer at 12:00 noon. All who are years old, please come and join us. We will be discussing moral issues involved with voting for either of the two presidential nominees. Father Mark Augustine will be making a special visit to host a discussion on a surprise topic. We will be praying the rosary and meditating on the glorious mysteries. We will be reviewing a section in the Book of Matthew and discussing questions related to the passages that are selected.
