Thank You, Deacon Steve This weekend we wish Deacon Steve Geerling all of God s graces as he completes his time with us and begins proximate preparation to be ordained to the Priesthood for the Diocese of Grand Rapids on June 3rd. It has been a blessing to have him with us this past academic year. His care and concern for God s people has been very apparent in his warm presence, approach and preaching. He often joined us not only for Sunday Masses, but for Fish Fries, Youth Ministry and Religious Ed activities, etc. He will be a good, dedicated priest and we ask God to continue to bless him and all whom he will serve. We look forward to his coming back to us one Sunday this summer to offer a Mass of Thanksgiving. Thank You Ladies Many, many thanks to the dedicated ladies of the CWC for another very successful Rummage Sale and to all who assisted them in donating, unloading, separating, setting up, displaying, selling, reloading, etc. It really is a lot of work and this year, even more so, when it came to packing up and donating remaining items. The sale raised $4, from people s used, donated items. Thank you, Ladies, you are wonderful! Thank You Gentlemen As you know this Lent we had two very successful Fish Fries. Once again I offer our heartfelt thanks to all the dedicated men of our Men s Club for sponsoring, planning and carrying out these events. Thanks, also, to all who supported, served (our young people), sold tickets, tended bar, etc. The events made a combined profit of over $4,000! You guys are great!. Thank You Ed and Marge You will recall that Ed and Marge Christiansen kindly donated an autographed Patrick Kane jersey for our use as a fund raiser. They received the jersey from their dearly departed son, Fr. Gerard Christiansen. Because of their generosity and those who participated in the raffle, we raised $2,380 for the parish. Thank you!!! Thank You All! While we are still awaiting totals from credit card donations, our Easter Collection total to date is $58,318. We exceeded our budgeted $57,000 and I am very grateful to all who continue to support our ministries and activities through your generous regular and special donations. God bless you! We hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed the food. We look forward to doing it again next year. Thank you to all who volunteered their time and talents to make this year s events a big success. Specifically, we would like to thank: OLR Religious Education students for all their hard work setting up, serving and cleaning during these events. Knights of Columbus Jerry Kowalczyk from Cut Above Catering for donating the delicious soup. And of course all of the OLR Men s Club, Social Events Committee and Parish Council members and volunteers Stay tuned for our next event Ransom Ravinia coming up in July. The OLR Men s Club is open to all men of the parish. Anyone interested in the men s club should feel free to come to our meetings which are scheduled for the first Monday of the month at 7:30 PM in the Men s Club room #3 located in the north end of the school. I am grateful for my mentor Fr Chris, and appreciate all the clergy, staff, and parishioners who have been so welcoming. I will be ordained a priest in Grand Rapids on June 3rd. There is a program developed to address the need for teens, sponsors and parents who have returned to the Church and are in need of this initiation sacrament, Confirmation. There is an information session here at OLR to explain the process.

7 May 7, 2017 Fourth Sunday of Easter Page Seven MARK YOUR CALENDER! We are planning to serve dinner at Our Lady of Lourdes located at 4641 North Ashland, Chicago on Wednesday, May 24th. Our needy friends in the city always look forward to our visit with a delicious dinner for the 150 people attending. This month we plan to serve meatballs, italian sauce, mostaccioli, and a healthy salad. Of course, fruit and pies, cookies, and cakes, as well as wrapped candy, will be welcomed. Please save your small toiletries; especially shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, etc. for our guests. We also are in need of new men s tube socks. We are the only parish that donates new socks, and our gifts are most welcome as many of our needy friends do not have an extra pair of socks! More information will follow but as we always say, we cannot do it without you. Every first Sunday of the month we have blood pressure and diabetes screenings in Room 14 of the school building, following the 9:00am Mass until the 10:45am Mass. Please take advantage of this free parish service this Sunday! Today is Donut Sunday, please stop down the school hallway and grab a donut, juice or coffee and enjoy the chance to visit with your fellow parishioners. BULLETIN SUBMISSIONS Our weekly bulletin communicates the news and events at OLR Parish. Please submit all information two weeks prior to anticipated publication date Mass Book opens Wednesday, May 10 The opening date for the Mass Book for 2018 intentions will be Wednesday, May10 at 9:00a.m. in the Ministry Center. Unfortunately, we cannot accept advance bookings and checks. Any checks received before the opening date will be returned to sender. Intentions for the Mass are limited to one person and/or spouse per Mass. Should there be more family names, they will be listed as Deceased Members of the Family. According to the Code of Canon Law 948: Separate Masses must be applied for the intentions of those for whom an individual offering, even if small, has been made and accepted. The Archdiocese allows 2 Masses per week to be multiple intention Masses. These will be celebrated each Tuesday and Saturday at 8:15a.m. There will be a limit to one Sunday Mass per calendar month (12 Sunday Masses per year. ) There is no limit to weekday Masses.
