Sacrament of Matrimony: Couples should contact a Parish Priest as soon as they decide to marry and before any other arrangements are made. The Diocesan policy requires a minimum oneyear period of preparation. Sacrament of the Sick & Homebound Visits Please inform us when a family member is admitted to the hospital. Communion visits to the aged, sick, convalescing and homebound are a major concern to us. Please call the Rectory at to arrange these ministerial visits. 4 STEWARDSHIP / MINISTRIES THANK YOU Thank you to all the Leaders of the SPiN Action teams for your tireless efforts to bring groups each month to be with those in need. You are truly a blessing to our parish. A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR CAROLERS Under the direction of Nicki Verploegen What a joy you were to all those we sang for: Especially to the women at Whitinsville Retirement Society who had sung in a choir before and then proceeded to out sang us all. All those at St. Camillus that danced to the beat the best that they could and gratefully thanked us for coming. Those lovely two ladies that were arm and arm singing along with us at Whitney Place. And last but not least the women at Beaumont who was so moved she had tears flowing down her eyes as she smiled and sang along with us. What a Blessing for all of us involved. Knights of Columbus Upcoming Meeting The monthly meeting of the Mumford Council #365, will be held this Tuesday, December 19th at Mumford Hall. There will be a premeeting meal at 6:15 PM, followed by the meeting at 7:00 PM. If you are not a member of the Knights of Columbus and would like to join us, please talk to any Knight or visit Prayer for Those in the Service Welcome Needed! The Blackstone Emergency Shelter is in need of clean blankets and new pillows for guests that stay in the shelter. If you would like to donate please drop them off at the Rectory. For more information please contact Fred Beauregard: fbmbcbjb@charter.net The Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church in Whitinsville will host a clothing swap on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 9am to 11am. We accept donations of gently used (no rips or stains please) men's, women's and kid's clothing, shoes and accessories. Donations can be dropped off on Friday, January 12 between 6 and 7pm or the morning of the swap. Use the driveway between Domino's Pizza and the law office and come in the church's back door. Everything is free and the swap is open to the public. You don't have to donate to take something home and you don't have to take something in order to donate. Whether you're looking to update your wardrobe or clean out your closet, this is the event for you! We will also be accepting donations for the NAC food pantry. Give them courage and strength against all enemies both spiritual and physical and hasten their safe journey back to their homes and families. 5 Reflections: Welcome Happy New Year my friends! As we prepare to start 2018 we look forward to a clean slate ahead. Now is the time for New Year s resolutions! Whether it is the same resolution again or a completely new one, we all seem to try to improve ourselves in some way as we start the New Year. The same can be said for us here in Faith Formation. In our time the greatest growing religious group is the 1830 year old nonaffiliated. We have 322 young souls from Pre School to Confirmation. It is up to all of us as a parish to teach all our young people how much God loves them and will never turn away from them. It is up to us to teach them who Jesus was and is and his impact on our world. It is a large responsibility we have as adults to pass on our faith to our youth. These kids are wonderful and loving but they live in a very different world than we did. Information comes at them at a moment s notice. To be accepted they need to be connected through technology. Our youngest disciples have been enjoying Children s Liturgy with Deacon Chris. In the month of December he had them singing and dancing to What a Mighty God We Serve. They were drawn in and really paid attention to Deacon Chris telling them all about their Guardian Angels. It was amazing to see them on fire for Jesus. Our middle school and high school kids watched a PowerPoint on Jesus life to the song Mary Did You Know? They then went upstairs and shared in Adoration. Our kids are learning to go deep and really experience Jesus. There is so much more work that needs to be done. In this New Year, please consider what gifts and talents God has given you that would be helpful to our youth. Are you creative, technology savvy, good at fundraising, good at publicity, or good with youth? No matter your gifts and talents we would love to have your help even if for a short time. Perhaps you would like to shadow a teacher in the classroom and see if being a small group leader is possible. Perhaps you can work briefly on a project for Faith Formation. No matter what your time commitment we would love to have any help you can give. We will never ask more than you are comfortable with. Something we are desperately in need of is your prayers. Please pray for our 322 youth. Please pray for our program, for our 39 teachers, and for our families. Please pray we are all open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
