The allegorical nature of the parable is obvious, for taken literally how could any of the street people in a devastated city fit themselves out with wedding apparel? This is the answer to What shall I wear? to the wedding feast of the kingdom which in the long run of salva on history is the only wedding that really ma ers. Those who wish to share the Son s wedding feast must always be clothed and ready in this way of love. Like Ma hew s community, as a church we are also servants sent out to invite others to the wedding feast, to proclaim that God s door is always open and welcoming. Our mission is not to judge, but to carry the message to our streets and workplaces, and suffer unconcern, ridicule, and some mes, even persecu on for the sake of the King and his Son. Verna A. Happiness does not depend on where you are. I live in prison. And I have not had a day of depression in 25 years. I have been upset, angry. I have been sad. But never depressed. I have a reason for my being. Mother Antonia Brenner, who died on October 17, 2013, spent nearly thirty years in prison, though she had commi ed no crime. Instead, responding to a call from God, she had abandoned her life in Beverly Hills, taken religious vows, and voluntarily entered the La Mesa prison in Tijuana, Mexico, to live there as an inmate and to minister to those behind bars. She was born Mary Clarke to a very different life. Twice married and divorced, she raised seven children. In 1969, a er Jesus appeared to her in a dream, she determined to devote her life to his service. While going through her second divorce a priest had invited her to help in his prison ministry at La Mesa an overcrowded prison that housed eight thousand inmates. A er years of visi ng the prison and performing small acts of charity, she felt that God was calling her to something more. As no religious order would accept a fi y-year-old divorced woman, she sewed her own habit and took private religious vows. Eventually she received permission to move into a cell in the women s sec on of the prison. I felt as if I d come home, she said. In the prison she walked freely among murderers, gang members, and other desperate criminals. Her loving presence o en quelled violence. She was known as the Prison Angel, or simply Mama. The OLMC Library has a copy of the book that tells the story of Mother Antonia. Overall, Yadin s excava ons at Masada served as a milestone for archaeology in Israel, especially in terms of his use of mul na onal volunteers and numerous other aspects of the logis cs of the opera on.
