This is also an opportunity for all parishioners to pray for the beloved deceased members of your families in a unique setting. Invitations will be mailed to family members of the deceased who have been buried from St. Ignatius Loyola Church during this past year. ALL SOULS ENVELOPES In your envelope packet for November, you will find an envelope for All Souls Day, November 2nd. This is a day set aside by the Church to especially remember our deceased loved ones. You are invited to write the names of your loved ones on the envelope and place an offering inside. These envelopes are kept on the altar during the month of November and are remembered in a special way by the celebrants of the Masses that month. BOOK OF THE DEAD During the month of November, we will display a special book inscribed with the names of those who were buried from our Church during the past year. It is our way to honor their memory and invite all to pray for them during the month. The names of other deceased loved ones may be written on the All Souls Day envelope and they will be remembered in a special way. W e, the blended Catholic community of St. Ignatius Loyola, draw strength from Word and Sacrament, especially in the celebration of the Eucharist. Modeling Christ s work, we embrace our commitment to God s call. We remain faithful to the shared acts of prayer, study and service. All sessions are scheduled for Conlan Hall at St. Ignatius, and will begin at 6:30 PM. Participants are invited to come and relax and to bring their own Bibles. WEDNESDAY TALKS NOVEMBER 8TH In recognition of our need to give, and the many needs of our church and parish, and in gratitude for God s gifts to us, we declare our willingness to return a portion of our Treasure to our parish, as part of our total Christian stewardship. ADDRESSING VETERANS NEEDS 7:00 P. M. IN CONLAN HALL Dr. Charles Blewitt, Commission on Economic Opportunity Consultant, and Mr. Kermit Douglas, Director of the Veteran Transition Housing Unit will discuss the current needs of veterans within our area. Though the focus of the discussion will address transitional housing, Dr. Blewitt and Mr. Douglas will describe other services which assist with mental health and substance abuse concerns-all designed to help develop social and economic independence. Please join us and learn about these different programs designed to assist those who dedicated their service to our country. All are welcomed bring a friend! FIRST FRIDAY - NOVEMBER 3RD Eucharistic Adoration will be held at 12:45PM concluding with Benediction at 4:00PM. Later, Jesus, in His ministry, offered a simpler commandment: to love thy neighbor as thyself. May we all follow Jesus great commandment in order to bring the love of God and love of neighbor into our daily lives. Don t forget! 3 Page 3 O C T O B E R 2 9, RCIA (THE RITE OF CHRSITIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS) The RCIA will begin this Sunday, October 29th at 11:30 AM in the Rectory. All are welcome. This is for those who wish to explore the Catholic Faith more deeply. It is open to all - Non- Catholic and Catholic alike. It will look at basic Christianity and the person of Jesus Christ. The RCIA will explore basic and central Christianity teaching. If you are interested in coming to understand Catholic Christianity and the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church, please join us. 4 W O R S H I P L I T U R G Y A N D P R A Y E R We need you!! Throughout this Fall season, we will explore all Liturgical Ministries and share the need to increase participation in all areas. Liturgical Ministry is an excellent opportunity to fulfill your Baptismal call of service to one another. Our Liturgies utilize the talents and gifts that God has given this community to its fullest extent. Whether participation is through behind the scenes planning and preparation or through service within the Mass, parishioner contributions help our liturgies to be truly life-giving celebrations. Please prayerfully consider joining one of these ministries. EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF COMMUNION Lay Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion enjoy the unique privilege of sharing the Body and Blood of Christ with others. The title, Lay Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is given to the men, women and young adults who assist in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during a celebration of the Mass. In addition to the "ordinary" ministers of Holy Communion, who are the priests and the deacons, the laity (those who have not received Holy Orders) are called "extra-ordinary", meaning "in addition to the ordinary." You may have noticed that there are times when the chalice has not been offered during Communion. Due to the small amount of active Eucharistic Ministers in the parish, we chose not to offer the cup during the summer months. Additional active ministers will allow the parish to always offer Holy Communion under both species. As Father McKernan says, If a person is worthy to receive Communion, they are worthy to give Communion. Ministry in the Church comes from the belief that each person has been given a GIFT by God. Each person is called to share his or her gifts with the rest of the Body of Christ because there is a genuine NEED. What is essential to ministry is the realization that our gifts come from God and that we must share them with great HUMILITY. Initial instruction/formation will be provided as well as ongoing formation at least once per year. PIEROGI BOARD NEWS Happy to announce we will be making our delish pierogi for this Holiday Season. No orders will be taken at this time because we can not guarantee production. Prices will remain the same, $8.00 for potato/cheese and $ 9.00 for farmers cheese and sweet cabbage. We will have some prune later. Watch bulletin for information. Pierogi will be sold the day of production from 12:00 to 3:00 PM and in the evening from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. We will be selling after weekend Masses only if the sign is out. This event to be held Thursday, November 9th from 8:30am to noon at Conlan Hall St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, Kingston is free of charge and includes a meal but registration is required. SAINT IGNATIUS THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE The Youth Group are once again collecting non-perishable food items to be packed and distributed to over 25 families in our parish and the community. Food can be dropped off in back of either the Church or Chapel in the food pantry bins at all masses. Some common foods in need are mashed potatoes, gravy, pasta, sauce, peanut butter, jelly, canned fruits and vegetables, cake mix, icing, cranberry sauce, and cereal.
