1 THE CHURCH OF S AINT I GNATIUS L OYOLA A ROMAN CATHOLIC C OMMUNITY INSPIRED BY THE TRADITION OF ST. IGNATIUS, S T. HEDWIG AND S T. MARY'S ANNUNCIATION PARISHES. W e, the blended Catholic community of St. Ignatius Loyola, draw strength from Word and Sacrament, especially in the celebration of the Eucharist. Modeling Christ s work, we embrace our commitment to God s call. We remain faithful to the shared acts of prayer, study and service. Together we extend Christ s hospitality to others and light the path of peace for generations to come. Knowing God is more important than knowing about God. - Karl Rahner, S.J.

Issing, C.S.C., Ph.D. Associate Professor of Theology at King s College The Altar Breads and Wine for this week are offered In Memory of Len Hosey By Family Sanctuary Candles Burn this week In Memory of Len Hosey By Family In Memory of Frank A. Danna By Wife & Sisters How do we deal with the challenges of daily life, especially when we feel so powerless to effect change? Whether it s the death of a loved one, the sin and hurt in the church, ugly American politics, violence throughout the world or just growing old how do we cope? Please join us on Wednesday, November 14 th at 6:30 P.M. in when Father Issing will help us reflect on how to grieve in the way of Jesus, who according to John, was greatly disturbed in spirit by Mary s tears at the death of her brother Lazarus. Using examples of judgment and mercy alive in the Masses throughout November, we can find the inner strength in knowing that God asks us to give all, but he also offers everything to us, including a life stronger than death and love stronger that fear. All are welcome. We encourage you to spend quiet time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament throughout the week with a special prayer intention in mind. Just pick up a card after your visit to Church and send it off to the one in your prayer. The cards may be used on First Fridays by those attending Eucharistic Adoration. Think gospel! Please make room for your neighbor in Church and slide to the center of the pew.

3 N O V E M B E R 4, Page 3 In recognition of our need to give, and the many needs of our church and parish, and in gratitude for God s gifts to us, we declare our willingness to return a portion of our Treasure to our parish, as part of our total Christian stewardship. Sunday Tithe $10, (450 Envelopes) This Week s Expenses $11, Additional Mission Collection $ BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION Please leave Box Tops for Education with UPC bar code and soda tabs to benefit Good Shepherd Academy. Boxes are located in the Church and Chapel foyers. FAREWELL FOR FATHER MCKERNAN Come join us after the 10:30 AM Mass on Sunday, November 11th to say farewell and thank you to Father McKernan. Coffee and donuts will be served in Conlan Hall. WEEKLY MEDITATION Jesus gives us two commands this week - to love God with every fiber of our being and to love our neighbor as ourselves. This is all God desires yet how hard it is for us to comply. God is Lord above all but how often idols sneak into our lives - work, possessions and sometimes even our children. And while it is easy to love our friends as ourselves how seemingly impossible it is to love that family member or that co-worker who continually irritates us and undermines every thing we do. Let us take time this week to place God first in our thoughts and actions. W O R S H I P L I T U R G Y A N D P R A Y E R MASS OF REMEMBRANCE All parishioners are invited to attend and support our families who have lost someone special this past year at a Mass of Remembrance on Monday, November 5th at 7:00 PM. This is also an opportunity for all parishioners to pray for the beloved deceased members of your families in a unique setting. HANDBELL CHOIR The handbell choir is in need of 1 or 2 ringers for this Fall season. Musical knowledge is a help but not a necessity. If you have an interest in learning how to ring or learning more about the bell choir, please contact Carmella Faust at religiouseducation1@yahoo.com or Participation in bell choir also counts as service for any high school student who is in need of hours. Don t forget! Food Collection each and every weekend at the vestibules of the Church and Chapel.
