1 THE CHURCH OF S AINT I GNATIUS L OYOLA A ROMAN CATHOLIC C OMMUNITY INSPIRED BY THE TRADITION OF ST. IGNATIUS, S T. HEDWIG AND S T. MARY'S ANNUNCIATION PARISHES. e, the blended Catholic community of St. Ignatius Loyola, draw strength from Word and Sacrament, W especially in the celebration of the Eucharist. Modeling Christ s work, we embrace our commitment to God s call. We remain faithful to the shared acts of prayer, study and service. Together we extend Christ s hospitality to others and light the path of peace for generations to come. Knowing God is more important than knowing about God. Karl Rahner, S.J.
2 T H E S U N D A Y L I G H T Page 2 OFFERTORY ENVELOPE NOTICE: Due to recent vandalism, we are asking parishioners to no longer place offertory envelopes in the mailbox in front of the rectory. Please deliver envelopes by hand, mail, or in church. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you, as always, for your continued support of our parish community. W O R D L E A R N I N G A B O U T O U R F A I T H RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN Do you have a child with a learning disability especially - ADD, DHD, austism, Asperger s syndrome - or know a family of a child experiencing these disabilities? We have a religious education program for these children. If you would like more information or are interested in this program, please call Carmella Faust at or religiouseducation1@yahoo.com CHILDREN S BULLETINS The Children s Bulletin is a weekly child friendly (ages 3-12) worksheet on the Gospel of the day. Please use them to help your child(ren) understand the reading. The bulletins can be found in the back of the Church (on the food bank container.) In recognition of our need to give, and the many needs of our church and parish, and in gratitude for God s gifts to us, we declare our willingness to return a portion of our Treasure to our parish, as part of our total Christian stewardship. Sunday Tithe $14, This Week s Expenses $14, Priests Collection $2, ADULT FAITH FORMATION Our Parish will once again offer discussions and videos on the 1 st and 2 nd Wednesdays of each month. As in the past, there is no need to sign up or commit yourself to a particular presentation, come to those that interest you. All sessions will be held in Bergen Hall 1 st Floor, except when noted, and begin at 7:00 p.m. On September 7 th, we invite you to a tour of our church. On October 5 th, Sister Noel will discuss the Infancy Narratives. There will be no presentation for November since it conflicts with the Mass of Remembrance. In December, the season of giving, our topic is service in the community. More details on these sessions and our videos will follow. W E E K L Y M E D I T A T I O N Today s readings offer a challenging message. In the mainstream of society, we are bombarded daily with fleeting advertisements, political jargon, editorials, and the like. These can cause great divisions among us. When making decisions, let us weigh carefully our choices and outcomes. Will we go with the flow, turn a deaf ear, assume the easy way out...or, will we fix our eyes on Jesus and be set ablaze with the desire for His unchanging Word, His Path for Truth? Don t forget! Food Collection each and every weekend at the vestibules of Church and Chapel.

MOTHER TERESA S HAVEN VOLUNTEERS WELCOME St. Ignatius Parish will host Mother Teresa s Haven in Conlan Hall from Monday, August 29th through Sunday, September 4th. While several of these nights are already covered with sponsors, we are looking for sponsors to plan, supply, and cook meals for two nights specific nights: Monday, August 29 th and Sunday, September 4 th. In addition, we welcome any individuals who can help support the work of Mother Teresa s Haven on any of the scheduled nights from help with kitchen prep, to serving, to sharing fellowship with our guests, to clean up and dishwashing. Sponsor groups (usually 4 to 6 people per group) cover all aspects of their given night, from planning the meal, to shopping for food, to cooking and serving the meal, to cleaning up. Dinner is served at 5:30 each night, and clean up is usually completed by around 8:00. Members from volunteer groups who are cooking the meal that evening should plan to arrive earlier as needed for food preparation. Individuals who want to offer supplemental support (from kitchen prep through clean up) on any given night are always welcome. We welcome and invite any food donations parishioners might be able to offer in support of this ministry. Breads and homemade desserts are especially welcome. We extend a special welcome and invitation to those who have never had the chance to support and participate in Mother Teresa s Haven and would like to become involved this time around. We wish to thank all of our parishioners who have already volunteered and served in support of this ministry! Thank you for all that you do for and on behalf of St. Ignatius Parish! If you would like to help and become involved with this ministry, or if you have any questions about how you might help and become involved, please contact Tom Hamill ( ); Mike Stretanski ( ); or Deacon John O Connor ( ). We look forward to hearing from you and to working with you. God bless. Special Note! Please send us your address and help us cut down on paper and postage.
