BISHOP LEADING PILGRIMAGE TO BASILICA IN WASHINGTON, D.C. On Saturday, September 15, the Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Scranton will lead his first pilgrimage as Diocesan Bishop to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The day will include opportunities for public as well as private prayer, confession, touring the National Shrine as well as the campus of The Catholic University of America, concluding with Mass. Bus fare is $40.00 per person. To assure bus transportation, it is requested by the bus company to hold strictly to a deadline of July 16th for reservations. Anyone from St. Ignatius parish interested in this pilgrimage should contact Helen O Brien at Your check for $40.00 payable to the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola must be received at the rectory by July 16th. The location for the departure of buses from our deanery will be announced when the reservation count is determined. HOLY NAME SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIPS The Holy Name Society has established two $ scholarships for two deserving seniors from local high schools. The main criteria along with scholastic ability, is that they must be a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Parish. Applications are available at the rectory and must be processed prior to June 30th. PETER S PENCE COLLECTION - JUNE 23RD & 24TH Our diocese will take up the Peter s Pence Collection, which provides the Holy Father with the funds he needs to carry out his most important charitable works. The proceeds benefit the most disadvantaged: victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters. Through your generosity, we can cast the peace of Christ upon the world. Envelopes for this collection can be found in your pews. Please make checks payable to St. Ignatius Church as we will forward one check to the Diocese. Thank you. Prayer Cards We encourage you to spend quiet time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament throughout the week with a special prayer intention in mind. Just pick up a card after your visit to Church and send it off to the one in your prayer. The cards may be used on First Fridays by those attending Eucharistic Adoration. M I S S I O N A T T H E M A N S I O N T H E F E L L O W S H I P O F T H E U N A - S H A M E D This overnight retreat planned and organized by our Youth and Adult leaders will be held Monday, July 16th at The Kirby House, Mountaintop until Tuesday morning, THEN: July 17, we will attend Light The Fire Youth Rally at Misericordia University. (Space is limited for the overnight, first people to sign up and get their paperwork in, get a bed, after the 48 beds are full we will ask people to bring sleeping bags. Join us as we have time to come together to build community, get to know ourselves, others and God. We have three presenters, time to relax, pray, eat and swim! The event will be held on the seminary grounds at 1880 Highway 315, Pittston. Registration begins at 9:30 AM followed by a welcome to all, fun activities, a talk on the role of being an altar server, lunch, group activities and a concluding Mass at 2:00 PM in the seminary chapel. The Social Concerns Corner The generosity of our parishioners to the clients/recipients of the West Side Food Bank is greatly appreciated. As summer is here, school is now on vacation time and there are no school provided breakfasts or lunches. This increased pressure on family food budgets needs more food assistance. The Food Bank especially needs juice and peanut butter.
