A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP BAMBERA As you may already know from media reports, the Diocese of Scranton has been the subject of a statewide Grand Jury investigating child sexual abuse in six of the eight dioceses in Pennsylvania. Public release of the report is expected in the coming weeks. I want to take this opportunity to offer my deepest apologies to the victims of such abuse, to their families, to the faithful of our Church and to everyone impacted by the behaviors described in this report. While difficult to face, this is the only way for us to move forward in a more positive way as we learn from the past. You will be kept apprised of new developments through various channels of communication as more information is released. Once again, I am deeply sorry for these past actions and the pain caused by the behaviors described in the report, and I will continue to do all that I can to ensure the safety and well-being of our children. In recognition of our need to give, and the many needs of our church and parish, and in gratitude for God s gifts to us, we declare our willingness to return a portion of our Treasure to our parish, as part of our total Christian stewardship. Sunday Tithe $13, This Week s Expenses $8, W O R S H I P L I T U R G Y A N D P R A Y E R WEEKLY MEDITATION In Mark s gospel today, we learn about the Kingdom of God through the parable of the mustard seed. The mustard seed is a small tiny seed that when sown and if the conditions are right, grows slowly, transforms and extends its branches to others. The seed becomes the largest plant. So, when a tiny seed as the word of God gets planted in a human soul, it changes a person to grow, believe and trust in God. The Kingdom of God grows every day just like the mustard seed in the soil and the seed in us. Don t forget! Food Collection each and every weekend at the vestibules of Church and Chapel.

Mary s Ministry has reserved tickets for the 3:00 PM performance of Jesus at Sight & Sound Theatres, Lancaster, PA for Tuesday, September 25, Our bus will leave St. Ann s Chapel at 8:30 AM and stop for lunch and shopping at Shady Maple Smorgasbord. We will leave from the show about 5:45 PM with a comfort stop enroute home. Since theatre seats will not be assigned until full payment is received, we are now accepting non-refundable trip payments so we can finalize our plans ASAP. Reservations will be accepted in the order checks are received so do not delay. Contact Elaine Whipple at (570) ASAP for details and to make your reservation. The cost per person for lunch, show ticket, and bus: Adults (13 & up) $110, Child (11-12) $80, Child (3-10) $72. Full payment for AED TRAINING With our Automatic External Defibrillators in place, the Knights of Columbus Assumpta Council 3987 is sponsoring training in use of these life saving devices. A Friend s and CPR Class is scheduled to take place the evening of Wednesday, June 20th in Conlan Hall at 6:00 PM. It is free of charge. American Heart Association s & Friends CPR is for people who wish to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card to meet a job requirement. It is taught by certified instructors, and lasts approximately one hour. The course includes a short video AND supervised hands-on practice with mannequins and AED training devises similar to our AED s. Those completing the course will receive a reference book to take home. cpr.heart.org Ushers, and all of us serving and attending Masses and church activities are encouraged to attend. May we all continue to care for each other in this important way. In order to ensure adequate equipment, staff and books, reservations must be made by calling the Rectory by June 10th. Our sale begins in Conlan Hall on Thursday, July 26th from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Friday, July 27th from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Saturday, July 28th (Bag Day) from 8:00 AM to Noon. Current food needs include: Canned fruit, applesauce, jelly, mac & cheese, canned pasta, breakfast bars and juice boxes. Requested items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, mouthwash, soap, shower gel, body lotion, deodorant, hand cream, hand sanitizer, disposable razors, shaving cream, toilet paper and tissues. Regular and travel size items are welcome. Please place the items in the food collection bins at the Church and Chapel. Thank you for your continuous support of our Food Pantry. AL BEECH/WEST SIDE FOOD PANTRY NEW PRESIDENT NEEDED The current President will be leaving the area; however, she will be available to train and work with the successful applicant. The President s duties include preparing an agenda, presiding at meetings and working with CEO (Commission on Economic Opportunity) operational procedures including procurement and distribution of food to the needy in our community. The Food Pantry consists of an excellent working Board, numerous volunteers who pack, distribute, and stock food and make phone calls. The Food Pantry has much Church, Synagogue, and Community support.
