2 LITURGY CORNER Have you ever wondered why the cantor moves to the ambo to sing the psalm instead of singing it from the cantor stand? Do you know that if you receive communion only under the form of wine that you would be receiving both the Body and Blood of Christ? You may have other questions about prayer and worship. Our parish will have a Town Hall Meeting on Worship on Sunday, August 19th, from 4:00-5:30 PM and Monday, August 20th, from 7:00-8:30 PM. You can attend either. These questions and others will be addressed at the Town Hall Meeting. THIS WEEK AT A GLANCE Cantor Rehearsal Thursday 6:30 PM Church FEAST OF SAINT IGNATIUS LOYOLA The parish will celebrate the feast of Saint Ignatius Loyola on Sunday evening, July 29th at 7:00 PM with Evening Prayer. All are invited to attend. SHRINE TO ST. HEDWIG AND ST. MARY We are preparing to place a statue of St. Hedwig and St. Mary (from those churches) in front of Bergan Hall. This project will cost about $10,000. Anyone wishing to donate this cost or to contribute to it is asked to contact Father John. TRANSPORTATION NEEDS ASSESSMENT Transportation ranks with Social Security and Medicare as a top issue of concern for older adults. With that in mind, the Social Concerns Council is conducting a Senior Transportation Needs Assessment. This is our first step in addressing the transportation needs of our parishioners. If you have a transportation need, please indicate below. Drop your return in the collection basket. Please seek spots in the parking lot. SAINT ANN S NOVENA Novena prayers and relic blessing will be offered during the daily 7:30 AM and 12:10 PM Mass. Novena prayers will be prayed after the 8:30 AM Mass on Sunday, July 22nd. The nine day Novena will conclude on the Feast of St. Ann - Thursday, July 26th. CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES COLLECTION - JULY 28TH & 29TH This collection supports six Catholic agencies that touch more than 100 million lives around the world. The funds from the collection help provide food to the hungry, welcome and support to displaced refugees, and invaluable life skills to those seeking a better life. How will you help? Please give generously to The Catholic Relief Services Collection and Jesus in disguise. Please make checks payable to St. Ignatius Loyola Church as we will forward one check to the Diocese. Thank you to everyone who helped make the Overnight Retreat and Youth Rally at Misericordia. It was a TREMENDOUS success!! A great time was had by all! Watch for new and exciting events. Planning for events in the upcoming year are soon to be in the works. We should have some information available approximately mid-august. Summer Mission Trip This year we have 32 youth and adults from Regional Youth Ministry traveling with other young adult leaders from across the Diocese of Scranton to Franklin, West Virginia. We ask for your prayers as we work with Almost Heaven, Habitat for Humanity and the families in Pendelton County. Safe travels to the youth and adults making their way to West Virginia on Sunday. Please remember to keep them in your prayers as they volunteer for Habitat for Humanity this week. Prayer Cards We encourage you to spend quiet time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament throughout the week with a special prayer intention in mind. Just pick up a card after your visit to Church and send it off to the one in your prayer. The cards may be used on First Fridays by those attending Eucharistic Adoration. As summer is here, school is now on vacation time and there are no school provided breakfasts or lunches. This increased pressure on family food budgets needs more food assistance. The Food Bank especially needs juice and peanut butter.
