FIRST COMMUNION & CONFIRMATION PICTURES First Communion and Confirmation pictures have arrived and can be picked up at the rectory during regular hours: Monday - Friday - 9:00 AM-5:00 PM and Sunday - 9:00 AM-Noon. SAINT ANN S NOVENA The annual Novena honoring Saint Ann will begin on Sunday, July 17th. Novena prayers and relic blessing will be offered during the daily 7:30 AM and 12:10 PM Mass. Novena prayers will be prayed after the 8:30 AM Mass on Sunday, July 17th and Sunday, July 24th. The nine day Novena will conclude on the Feast of St. Ann - Tuesday, July 26th. In recognition of our need to give, and the many needs of our church and parish, and in gratitude for God s gifts to us, we declare our willingness to return a portion of our Treasure to our parish, as part of our total Christian stewardship. ANN A Mass in the Polish language will be celebrated in honor of St. Ann - on her Feast Day - July 26th at 1:15 PM at St. Ann s Shrine, Scranton. Singing of Polish hymns will precede the Mass. All are invited to attend. ANNIVERSARY OF THE APPARITIONS OF FATIMA The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima of the Scranton Diocese is sponsoring a trip on August 13th to the National Blue Army Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, Washington, New Jersey. Cost is $30.00 per person. Bus leaves the Oblates of St. Joseph, Pittston at 8:30 AM. Enjoy the beautiful grounds, visit the gift shop, chapels and Capelinha confession, rosary procession, and Mass. Bus leaves the shrine at 3:45 PM. A dinner stop on the way home is paid individually. For information and reservations, call John Witkosky at DAY OF REFLECTION The Scranton Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will conduct a Day of Reflection on Wednesday, August 3rd, at The Villa of Our Lady of Retreat House, 245 Meadowside Road, Mount Pocono. Msgr. Vincent Grimalia, Chaplain of St. Luke s Villa will conduct the retreat. The topic is Jubilee Year of Mercy. The retreat will begin at 8:30 AM and will end by 2:00 PM. A continental breakfast and luncheon will be served. The cost is $ All Catholic women are invited to attend. Don t forget to drop off your donations at Conlan Hall on Monday, July 25th from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:30 to 7:30 PM and Tuesday, July 26th from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Please do not include any clothing, bedding, computer monitors, televisions or furniture in your donations. Household items of all kinds including dishes, books, CD s, toys, games, small appliances, jewelry, purses and more will be gratefully accepted. Our sale begins in Conlan Hall on Thursday, July 28th from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Friday, July 29th from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Saturday, July 30th (Bag Day) from 8:00 AM to Noon. Bake sale and food items available for lunch. Anyone wishing to donate baked goods can drop them off Thursday or Friday between 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM. PARISH SUMMER SOCIAL - SUNDAY, AUGUST 21ST Our parish will hold a Summer Social on Sunday, August 21st. The event will be held under the pavilion at Keeley s on Division St., Kingston from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Cost-$20.00 per adult and $13.00 per child. Menu includes: Hamburgers and Hotdogs, Pulled Pork, Italian Chicken, Pasta Salad, French Fries, Corn on the Cob, Soda, Coffee and Tea. Adult beverages will be available for purchase. Our pantry gets empty quicker, so again we rely on the generosity of our parishioners and friends. The food hamper has been moved to the opposite side of the vestibule. Also, CEO is unable to provide jams and jellies, so we ask for jelly contributions in July. It is so greatly appreciated. Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness to all in need. The Food Pantry Group DESIGNER PURSE BINGO Good Shepherd Academy will be hosting its first Designer Purse Bingo fundraiser. The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 24th at Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. Doors open at 11:00 AM and the bingo will begin at 1:00 PM. The cost is $25.00 for 20 games with extra special games and specials for purchase. There will be a basket raffle, Gertrude Hawk candy bars, as well as instant bingo. Food, drinks and a bake sale will also be available for purchase. Tickets are available by calling the school office at MIRACLE TREAT DAY Dairy Queen, 473 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, will be holding their Miracle Treat Day Celebration on Thursday, July 28th. All proceeds from the sale of our blizzards, miracle balloons and baskets will go to the Janet Weis Children s Hospital in Danville. There will be free games for the kids, face painting and balloon animals from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. We also have over 30 baskets to raffle off including a 40 inch LED Smart TV, Kindle Fire, Beats headphones and many more. Please join us that day for a very worthy cause and help us make miracles happen! CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES COLLECTION - JULY 31ST Each time we encounter a suffering person, we encounter Jesus in disguise The Catholic Relief Services Collection funds six Catholic agencies that serve the disguised Jesus in our suffering brothers and sisters around the world. His disguise might be that of those suffering from natural disaster, those displaced by violence or war, or those migrants searching for a better life. Your support of this collection is an opportunity to help Jesus in disguise. Envelopes for this collection will be available next weekend. Anyone interested in becoming a part of this process or in obtaining more information can call the Rectory at This journey in faith is concerned with the total formation of the person into living and serving with the Church community. BAPTISM Expectant and new parents are asked to participate in a seminar on Baptism. Please call the Rectory at Godparents are welcome to attend, though it is not required. Please call the rectory to register at your earliest convenience. The celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism is on the third Sunday of every month except during Lent. MARRIAGE Congratulations! You are asked to contact one of the parish priests at least six months before the date of your marriage so that the appropriate preparations can be made for this special celebration. VISITATION OF THE SICK Please call the office for visitation of the sick at home, in the hospital, or health care facility.
