Sunday Tithe $10, (460 Envelopes) This Week s Expenses $50, Mission Collection $2, WEEKLY MEDITATION In today s epistle, James writes, Where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every foul practice. In Mark s gospel, we find a perfect example of this when we read about the apostles arguing over who is greatest. Jesus seizes the opportunity to redirect their attention from self -serving ambitions which corrupt the spirt and instructs them to embrace a child s openness and humility in all they do. As we go through this week, let us reflect on our own ambitions and, if necessary, redirect any which led to a life of disorder to a life or order and virtue. W O R S H I P L I T U R G Y A N D P R A Y E R HOLY HOUR FOR ATONEMENT AND HEALING Friday, October 5, 2018 St. Ignatius Church 3 PM to 4 PM In light of the current crisis in our Church, we will be conducting a special Holy Hour for Atonement and Healing. This time of prayer will be held in conjunction with our First Friday Eucharistic Adoration. The holy hour will begin at 3 PM by praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The remaining time will include prayers for victims of abuse, prayers for healing, readings from Sacred Scripture, and time for silent prayer before our Lord. We will conclude with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at 4 PM. As members of the Body of Christ, all are invited to come together in prayer during this difficult time. Page 4 C O M M U N I T Y G R O W I N G T O G E T H E R SUPPORT REQUEST FOR RUTH S PLACE ANNUAL WALK FOR HOPE SEPTEMBER 30TH As part of our parish outreach ministry to help the homeless, Mary s Ministry is again registering as a team to represent the parish to support Ruth s Place Walk for Hope All proceeds will go to providing 24-hour shelter and case management services for women experiencing homelessness in Luzerne County. This two-mile Walk-A-Thon will take place Sunday September 30, 2018 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Public Square, Wilkes-Barre. We were able to send our local Pro-Life Center of Pennsylvanians for Human Life $3, in support of their Current food needs include canned fruit, applesauce, canned pasta, mac & cheese, cereal, peanut butter & jelly. As always, personal items such as toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper, razors, etc. are always needed as are monetary donations. Please call the rectory to register at your earliest convenience. The celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism is on the third Sunday of every month. MARRIAGE Congratulations! You are asked to contact one of the parish priests at least six months before the date of your marriage so that the appropriate preparations can be made for this special celebration. VISITATION OF THE SICK Please call the office for visitation of the sick at home, in the hospital, or health care facility.
