1 THE CHURCH OF S AINT I GNATIUS L OYOLA W O R D L E A R N I N G A B O U T O U R F A I T H WEEKLY MEDITATION There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same spirit. That spirit is the mighty work of God and creates unity and understanding, peace and forgiveness. We should live the lessons of Jesus and recognize His blessings of health, wholeness, harmony and everything good. Jesus says in the Gospel that nothing happens without the Father s knowledge. If God has taken the time to count our hairs we must believe he loves and cares for us always. Let us strive to put our trust in God in all circumstances. QUESTION OF THE WEEK Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time - The reassurance of faith Reading I Jeremiah 20:10-13 (Jeremiah s faith in crisis) Reading II Romans 5:12-15 (mankind s sin through Adam) Gospel Matthew 10:26-33 (reassurance to the Twelve) Key Passage Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. (Matthew 10:28a) Adult When has your faith in Jesus been most seriously tested? Youth What could you do to encourage someone who is feeling hurt? VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL When: Monday, July 31st - Friday, August 4th Time: 9:30 AM - Noon Ages: Those who have completed 1 year of pre-school - those who have completed Grade 5 Registration Fee: $10.00 per student Registration Dates: Sunday, July 16th & Sunday, July 23rd 10:00 AM - Noon in Bergan Hall A ROMAN CATHOLIC C OMMUNITY INSPIRED BY THE TRADITION OF ST. IGNATIUS, S T. HEDWIG AND S T. MARY'S ANNUNCIATION PARISHES. W e, the blended Catholic community of St. Ignatius Loyola, draw strength from Word and Sacrament, especially in the celebration of the Eucharist. Modeling Christ s work, we embrace our commitment to God s call. We remain faithful to the shared acts of prayer, study and service. Together we extend Christ s hospitality to others and light the path of peace for generations to come. Knowing God is more important than knowing about God. Karl Rahner, S.J.
2 Page 2 OFFERTORY ENVELOPE NOTICE: Due to recent vandalism, we are asking parishioners to no longer place offertory envelopes in the mailbox in front of the rectory. Please deliver envelopes by hand, mail, or in church.. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you, as always, for your continued support of our parish community. W O R S H I P L I T U R G Y A N D P R A Y E R LETTER OF GREETING TO ST. IGNATIUS PARISH COMMUNITY Peace to you in Jesus Christ! I am writing to introduce myself to you at the Parish of St. Ignatius. Bishop Joseph Bambera has appointed and sent me to be your new pastor. My name is Father Leo J. McKernan. I have been at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Pittston for the past year recuperating from surgery and some health issues. My recovery has been steady and I am feeling stronger and ready and eager to join you in Kingston. These days have not been easy ones at St. Ignatius. Father John Chmil was an altar server at my first Mass - we both have our roots at St. Leo s in Ashley. Father John has been a friend over the years and I know that together we will continue to love and pray for him in the days ahead. In recognition of our need to give, and the many needs of our church and parish, and in gratitude for God s gifts to us, we declare our willingness to return a portion of our Treasure to our parish, as part of our total Christian stewardship. As of Monday, June 26 th I will be with you in Kingston. Please keep me in your prayers during this time of change and transition. I am grateful to Father Andrew Kurovsky for his work and oversight over these last few weeks and will look forward to being with him until his departure for Sacred Heart in Peckville. In the coming days, I look forward to renewing old friendships and coming to know many of you at St. Ignatius Parish. I have heard good things regarding the parish. I look forward to be part of this band of disciples who are walking in love this way of Jesus together. Your brother, Father Leo J. McKernan Sunday Tithe $11, This Week s Expenses $27, ATTENTION: EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS AND ALTAR SERVERS There are Masses when the scheduled servers and or minister do not show up.
