Classes will resume on Sunday, January 7th. Wednesday, January 3rd - Grade 7 & 8 Release Time Sunday, January 7th - Grade 8 Family Morning/Class Mass. All students, both public and private schools, and their families are strongly encouraged to attend. The morning will begin at 9:15 am with a light continental breakfast and family activity followed by the class Mass at 10:30 am. CHILDREN S BULLETINS Families are reminded that Children s Bulletins are available in the foyer of the Church (on the brown food box.) These are an age appropriate activity sheet on the Sunday Gospel. ACTIVITIES FOR ADVENT! CANDLE BEARERS! St. Ignatius Parish Family - Help us light the candles of our Parish Advent Wreaths - Be a Candle Bearer! Individuals as well as families of any size are welcome to carry a candle! Sign up for the Liturgy of your choice. Sheets will be in the foyer of the Church and Chapel. ADVENT ANOINTING SERVICE The service will be held on Tuesday, December 12th at the 12:10 PM Mass. WEEKLY MEDITATION It s not hard to get caught up in the Christmas season. Plans for those wonderful presents, cookies, dinners and, of course sharing that special time with family and friends. But there is so much more. How will we really prepare for the coming of Jesus? Unlike John, we will probably not don a camel s hair vest nor will we live on locusts and honey, but what will we do? What acts of kindness and mercy can we perform to make Christmas truly come alive? Don t forget! Food Collection each and every weekend at the vestibules of the Church and Chapel.

Please make every effort to attend as we will be discussing some organizational items concerning this important parish ministry. Thank you for your continued service. May God bless you! ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE An Advent Penance Service will be held on Sunday, December 17th at 7:00 PM in the Church. RCIA (THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS) The RCIA will continue at 11:30 AM on Sunday at the Rectory. All are welcome. This is for those who wish to explore the Catholic Faith more deeply. It is open to all - Non-Catholic and Catholic alike. It will look at basic Christianity and the person of Jesus Christ. The RCIA will explore basic and central Christian teaching. If you are interested in coming to understand Catholic Christianity and the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church, please join us. BAPTISMAL PREP CLASS The next class is Monday, December 11th at 6:30 PM in the Church. Please call the Rectory at to register. HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS! We cordially invite all our college age young adults, who are Home for the Holidays, and their families to join us at the special Liturgy on Sunday, December 31 st, at 10:30 am. A light reception will follow the Mass. We would like our former altar servers, lectors, choir members, etc. to be a part of the celebration. Just pick up a card after your visit to Church and send it off to the one in your prayer. The cards may be used on First Fridays by those attending Eucharistic Adoration. Think gospel! Please make room for your neighbor in Church and slide to the center of the pew.

4 CHRISTMAS MASS INTENTION ENVELOPES Special Christmas Mass Intention envelopes can be found in your monthly packets to remember both living and deceased family members and friends. Please write the names of your loved ones on the back of the envelope. The envelopes will be placed on the altar during all of the Christmas Masses to remember your intentions. Please place the envelopes in the collection basket. Thank you. CHRISTMAS SACRIFICIAL GIVING A C H R I S T M A S G I F T T O Y O U R P A R I S H F A M I L Y Please remember we depend on your Christmas Offering for great help with our yearly expenses. With rising costs, increasing school subsidies, health insurance and utilities/ maintenance, it is critical everyone responds with generosity. Christmas income enables us to maintain all of our important ministries by offsetting a weekly deficit in our regular envelope income. May your gift be in proportion to all other Christmas expenditures. Let it be your first and most important gift. NEW PERMANENT DIACONATE CLASS The class will begin in August, If you feel a call from God, please contact Father McKernan. Any applicant must first be nominated by his pastor. Nominees must be at least 31 years of age and no older than 60. An undergraduate degree while preferred is not absolutely necessary - as long as he has a high school diploma (or GED) and is capable of collegelevel studies. If interested, please call soon. PROJECT ANDREW DINNER TO CONSIDER DIOCESAN VOCATION TO THE PRIESTHOOD The dinner will be held on Thursday, December 28th at St. Peter s Cathedral in Scranton. There will be evening prayer at 5:30 PM, followed by dinner at the Diocesan Pastoral Center. Each young man must be at least 16 years of age. There will be numerous men from the Diocese discerning a possible vocation. Please call Father McKernan or Father Mosley. S E R V I C E H E L P I N G O T H E R S SOCKS FOR VETERANS AT CHRISTMAS St. Ignatius will be organizing a sock drive to benefit local veterans this Christmas season through the services of the Commission on Economic Opportunity. Donations of new socks to support our local veterans are most welcome. Collection of socks will begin at the back of the Church and Chapel on the weekend of December 16th and will continue through the Feast of the Epiphany on the weekend of January 6th. Requested items include: toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, mouthwash, soap, shower gel, body lotion, deodorant, hand cream, hand sanitizer, shampoo, conditioner, disposable razors, shaving cream, toilet paper and tissues. A special thanks to Janet Scouton and Elaine Whipple for coordinating this event and to Stephanie Fernandes, Christina Hoidra, and Pat Fennell for sharing their time and talent to bring joy to all. ATTENTION HOMEBOUND PARISHIONERS, CARE GIVERS AND EXTRAORIDNARY MINISTERS Mary's Ministry will be distributing Christmas flowers the third week in December to our parishioners currently in nursing homes or homebound. We ask all family members, friends, or care givers to please contact the Rectory with names of homebound and nursing home parishioners who should be added to our list to be remembered. Eucharistic Ministers serving the homebound and nursing homes are asked to pick up their flowers for Christmas distribution on Friday December 15 th after 1:00 PM at the rectory or after weekend masses December th in the sacristy. ALPHA Alpha is to help you know Jesus Christ and explore the meaning of life. It will begin on Tuesday, January 9th. If you are interested in participating or volunteering to help, please call the Rectory. We need people to help with: intercessors prayer team, food prep and serving, DVD and technology, set-up and tear down, youth outreach, registration, group facilitator. CHILDREN S CHRISTMAS PARTY The Holy Name Society will sponsor its Annual Children s Christmas Party on Sunday, December 17th after the Noon Mass in Conlan Hall. Refreshments will be served and each child will receive a toy along with a visit from Santa. Please call the rectory to register at your earliest convenience. The celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism is on the third Sunday of every month. MARRIAGE Congratulations! You are asked to contact one of the parish priests at least six months before the date of your marriage so that the appropriate preparations can be made for this special celebration. VISITATION OF THE SICK Please call the office for visitation of the sick at home, in the hospital, or health care facility. Eucharistic Adoration is held the First Friday of the month at Saint Ignatius Church beginning at 12:45 PM concluding with Benediction at 4:00 PM.
