CHILDREN S BULLETINS The Children s Bulletin is a weekly child friendly worksheet on the Gospel of the day. The bulletins can be found in the back of the Church (on the food bank container.) FIRST COMMUNION & CONFIRMATION PICTURES First Communion and Confirmation pictures have arrived and can be picked up at the rectory during regular hours: Monday - Friday - 9:00 AM-5:00 PM and Sunday - 9:00 AM-Noon. Please pick them up at your earliest convenience. W E E K L Y M E D I T A T I O N How ready are we today to leave everything in this world behind to follow God? In today s first reading Elisha takes his plow and twelve yoke of oxen and offers them as a sacrifice to God before he leaves with Elijah. Leaving world possessions behind is never easy but it is infinitely easier to follow God when we are not weighed down by this world! Let us strive to live in the Spirit and NOT in the world. Youth What can you do to be a stronger follower of Jesus this week? FOURTH OF JULY MASS Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 AM in the Church on Monday, July 4th. Please note: There will be no 7:30 AM or 12:10 PM Mass on that day. In recognition of our need to give, and the many needs of our church and parish, and in gratitude for God s gifts to us, we declare our willingness to return a portion of our Treasure to our parish, as part of our total Christian stewardship. Sunday Tithe $12, This Week s Expenses $27, MASS IN REMEMBRANCE OF VICTIMS OF VIOLENT OR TRAGIC DEATH The Diocese of Scranton is offering the annual Mass in remembrance of victims of violent or tragic death. This Mass is offered for the families and friends of those who have died in tragedy, especially through murder, suicide, and accident. The Mass is scheduled for Thursday, July 14th at 7:00 PM in Saint Peter s Cathedral, Scranton. All persons who have lost a loved one through tragic or traumatic death are invited to this liturgy. We ask that the names of deceased loved ones be submitted on registration forms which are available at the rectory or accessed on the Service and Social Concerns webpage on the Diocese of Scranton s website, Questions concerning this Mass may be directed to the Office for Parish Life at ANNIVERSARY OF THE APPARITIONS OF FATIMA The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima of the Scranton Diocese is sponsoring trips on July 13th and August 13th to the National Blue Army Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, Washington, New Jersey. Cost is $30.00 per person. Bus leaves the Oblates of St. Joseph, Pittston at 8:30 AM. Enjoy the beautiful grounds, visit the gift shop, chapels and Capelinha confession, rosary procession, and Mass. Your presence was a gift in itself. I wish also thank you for the generous gifts and those who couldn t attend yet sent gifts. Your faith and loyalty were truly inspiring to me. You will all be remembered in my prayers as I ask you to pray for me to continue my priestly ministry to Christ. May every blessing you seek come to you. This is my prayer for all of you. The income we receive helps support some of our outreach service projects. DESIGNER PURSE BINGO Good Shepherd Academy will be hosting its first Designer Purse Bingo fundraiser. The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 24th at Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Ave., West Pittston. Doors open at 11:00 AM and the bingo will begin at 1:00 PM. The cost is $25.00 for 20 games with extra special games and specials for purchase. There will be a basket raffle, Gertrude Hawk candy bars, as well as instant bingo. Food, drinks and a bake sale will also be available for purchase. Watch the bulletin for ministry information. THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS This is a process the Catholic Church uses to bring adult members into the faith. Anyone interested in becoming a part of this process or in obtaining more information can call the Rectory at This journey in faith is concerned with the total formation of the person into living and serving with the Church community.
