The focus of our study was the Seven Arrows, a method for reading Bible passages with understanding, how to apply those truths and pray through them. Most of the study was in small groups where the students put into practice the lessons we were learning. We also packed in a lot of fun in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. It was wonderful to see how well all of the students participated and how well they got along with each other in the studies and the game times! Special thanks to Sharon Bannister, Cody Penland, the Saxes, and the Prices for leading the retreat. Please pray that the students will apply the lessons learned, and for their continued spiritual growth.

3 An amazing aspect of being a part of God s church is accepting the joyous responsibility to be witnesses around the world. Matthew 28:19-20 states the Great Commission: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Acts 1:8 tells us that you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Prayerfully consider how you will do your part. PSBC has many opportunities to serve in the coming months. To the Uttermost Ends of the Earth April 11-20, 2019 Philippines Mission Trip 2019 Pendleton Street Baptist Church has embraced the opportunity to witness to the uttermost ends of the earth with our partnership with the Independent Baptist Church of Masinloc (IBCM), a local church in Masinloc, Zambales, Philippines, pastored by Melo Lumibao. PSBC has come along-side Pastor Melo and his wife Ruth in their work by faithfully praying, sending teams, sending materials and supplies, and offerings, for over 10 years. God has blessed in many ways. Pastors have been called and sent out from Masinloc, and a network of churches is being planted to reach communities with no Gospel witness. PSBC is sending another mission team from April 11-20, 2019, to IBCM to help with Vacation Bible School, various construction projects, and outreach in local communities. If you d like to come to the Philippines with us this year, the total cost will be $ (all inclusive). A deposit of $250 will be due November 11, A passport is required. Pictures from our last trip to the Philippines are online here: missions/ October 2018 PSBC Connections, Page 3 Fall Mission: Filling Pantries This October, Pendleton Street Baptist Church will help fill pantries for the people of Heritage at Sliding Rock. Please bring non-perishable food items and paper goods to fill the bins at church on any Sunday during the month of October. Needed Items are: Canned vegetables Canned meats Dry pasta, Mac & Cheese Rice Flour and sugar Dry goods, cereals Condiments Canned soups Paper Towels Toilet Paper Or any other non-perishable items or paper products. Thank you for your donations! ******** In November, PSBC will partner with The Church at Blue Ridge to help Ridge Relief by collecting non-perishable food items throughout the month of November. These will be packed in backpacks to be given to children in need at Blue Ridge High School and Blue Ridge Middle School. Please bring your donations to fill the bins at church on any Sunday during the month of October. Needed Items are: Canned vegetables Canned meats Boxed pasta Mac & cheese Mini cereal boxes Breakfast bars Fruit/pudding snack packs Canned soups Toiletry Items Please make sure your canned items have pop-tops and the food is microwaveable! 4 OCC Shoebox Gift Time! Every year, Pendleton Street Baptist Church participates in Operation Christmas Child, by filling shoeboxes with gifts for a boy or a girl, and helping Samaritan's Purse ship these boxes overseas to children in need. In 2017, over 11 million shoeboxes were collected world-wide. Last year, PSBC collected 76 shoebox gifts and monetary donations to ship and fill many more! Let s fill even more shoeboxes this year! You can use an OCC Shoebox or one of your own. Fill the box with a stuffed animal, small toys, pencils, school supplies, crayons, socks, toothbrushes... whatever fits! (Please no toothpaste, no candy or perishable food and no liquids.) For a donation of only $9.00 to help with shipping, your box will travel to a needy child and help deliver the gospel as well. Bring your boxes to the PSBC Worship Service on or before Sunday, November 18th, so that we can deliver them all to an OCC collection site (on Monday, November 19th). For more information, contact Suzanne Price or the church office at Annual Church Picnic - September 2019 The annual PSBC Church Picnic was held at Greenville s Legacy Park. Pulled pork sandwiches and corn hole games were the hits of the day! PSBC had a great crowd of family and friends, with great food provided by the church congregation, and the smoked pork by chef Austin Bannister. Special thanks to Austin, Jeannie Davis, Oregon and Patty Lawton, and everyone else who worked so hard to make the PSBC picnic a success!
