Society of St. Vincent de Paul How We Help - Who We Are We offer person-to-person services to those in need or who are suffering financially, personally or spiritually. We make no distinction in who we serve. We are a Catholic lay organization of men and women dedicated to loving our neighbors through helping them with their needs. We are organized locally as our own SVDP conference at St. Peter Parish. During Advent, we are called to make the true meaning of Christmas come alive in our hearts and in our families by reaching out to those in need. We count on your generous support to fulfill our mission. You will find SVDP donation boxes at the church doors. If you need help or know of anyone who does, please call the parish office in confidence ( x12) and a member of our ministry will respond as soon as possible. Food Pantry in Need of Our Help With winter and the Christmas holidays coming up, local food pantries need our help more than ever. We are collecting peanut butter and jelly, breakfast cereals, dried beans, pasta and sauce, Spaghetti-Otype items, and soup and crackers. Please place your donations in the baskets at the doors of the church. And know that your generosity is a grace! Jung s Personality Types and the Religious Aspects of The Psyche Sundays, January 10, 17 & 24, 10:15-11:15 a.m. Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung developed the concept of personality types, which helps explain why we have different ways of perceiving the mundane and the sacred, despite similar backgrounds and shared experiences. Our personality type also affects how we practice our spirituality and the ways we like to pray. Knowing more about personality types can help us understand more about our own inner and outer life as well as that of others, which could lead to improved personal relationships. Join us to learn more about our own personality type and how we can tap into and develop it to have a fuller worldly and sacred life. The office will reopen Monday, December 28th, at 9:00 a.m. LIFT MINISTRIES An Evening of Music and Prayer Tuesday, January 12, 7:00 p.m. Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street, Rockland Join LIFT Ministries on Tuesday, January 12th, at 7:00 p.m. for an inspiring night of worship. The evening will include uplifting music, a relevant talk by Frank Connell, confessions, and Eucharistic Adoration. This event is free to attend and open to all ages. Come and worship with hundreds of Catholics from around the Boston area! Songja Ono, St. Peter School Class of 2008 Our parish community prays for the consolation of the Ono Family and their friends at the death of Songja, who died after an illness. She was the beloved daughter of Hiromi and Catherine Ono and sister of Suja, of Somerville. Songja was a 2008 graduate of St. Peter School and a 2012 graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Ushering in the Year of Mercy This Advent Listen to Parishioners How They Show Mercy Sundays of Advent, 9:00 a.m. Mass Please join us during the 9 a.m. Family Mass this Advent as we hear about the ways people of faith in our community show mercy in their daily lives and work. Featured speakers will be available immediately after Mass, in the parish center, to keep the discussion going. All Masses will feature congregational singing, led by a cantor, and accompanied by organ, piano, strings and brass. St. Peter School Alumni on Honor Roll Arlington Catholic High School Congratulations to Veronica Burke, Andrew Chan, and Samantha Lum, who are on the Honor Roll this semester at Arlington Catholic. Well done! The Book Club is a drop-in group that meets regularly to discuss fiction and non-fiction titles with a spiritual focus. Our next title is Mercy in the City: How to Feed the Hungry, Give Drink to the Thirsty, Visit the Imprisoned, and Keep your Day Job, by Kerry Weber. We meet in the parish center. All are welcome!
