Please help them with their social justice endeavor. They will be selling their Anglican rosaries after both services today for $10. The level 3 kids look forward to showing the parish the rosaries as a personal prayer practice, and as a fabulous way the kids can support other children in the community. Prayer Shawls remain powerful reminders of love! Michael Dean tells his latest experience of sharing a prayer shawl. I brought it to her at her home, and she was delighted to tears with it. She loved the colors (good guess on my part) but even more so understood the hours of prayerful knitting that went into creating it. The recipient sent us these lovely words, There are so few words to say. Thank you for my beautiful prayer shawl. I shall take it with me to my chemo treatments. I know I will feel wrapped in love. Thank you so much. We bless our Prayer Shawls the first Sunday morning of the month. The shawls are created by volunteers with loving hands and prayers. Volunteer knitters or crocheters are needed. Yarn has been donated for those who would like to use it. If you know of someone who is sick or in need of a shawl, please contact Norma Stuck, normaestuck@gmail.com, or call the office. FEEDING THE HOMELESS & HUNGRY This season, people from Trinity provided over 500 hot, nutritious meals to those in need when the Freedom Warming Centers were activated. We also offered a sandwich, granola bar and fruit for the next day. Over 45 people brought in tasty homemade casseroles, and another 50 people cooked and served on the evenings we were open. Bread was donated by Our Daily Bread, and salads, sandwich making ingredients, fresh fruit and desserts were brought in by dozens of others. Because we needed to have a full freezer in case of bad weather and subsequent activation, we ended up with an extra freezer full of casseroles at the end of the season. Not to worry! Those extra casseroles went to residents of the Faulding hotel on two occasions and families at Transition House on two occasions. Each of these groups feed between people at a time. The thoughtfulness of the preparations included vegetarian options, family recipes and fresh ingredients locally sourced (!) Recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude constantly. Many thanks to all of those who contributed in some way to the compassionate work of feeding the hungry in our community. The mission of the Freedom Warming Center is to relieve suffering and save lives of the unsheltered homeless on nights of severe weather conditions. Local churches provide food and shelter on activation nights. 8 PSALM 30 TODAY S MUSIC 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Services PRELUDE Ricercare Johann Jacob Froberger ( ) I will exalt you, O LORD, because you have lifted me up and have not let my enemies triumph over me. O LORD my God, I cried out to you, and you restored me to health. You brought me up, O LORD, from the dead; you restored my life as I was going down to the grave. Sing to the LORD, you faithful servants; give thanks for the remembrance of God s holiness. For God s wrath lasts but the twinkling of an eye, God s favor endures for a lifetime. Weeping may spend the night, but joy comes in the morning. While I felt secure, I said, I shall never be disturbed. You, LORD, with your favor, made me as strong as the mountains. Then you hid your face, and I was filled with fear. I cried to you, O LORD; I pleaded with the Lord, saying, What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? will the dust praise you or declare your faithfulness? Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me; O LORD, be my helper. You have turned my wailing into dancing; you have put off my sack-cloth and clothed me with joy. Therefore my heart sings to you without ceasing; O LORD my God, I will give you thanks for ever. community SUMMER FARM DAY AT THE ABUNDANT TABLE FARM Saturday, June 11, 9:30 a.m.-noon in Camarillo Hands-on educational activities for children; squeeze your own lemonade; farm tour; carrot harvesting ($3/bunch); plant your own acorn squash. $5 per adult, free for CSA members.
