2 WHERE IS GOD LEADING YOU? During our annual Stewardship Campaign, we are asking our parishioners to complete a Time And Talent Pledge Card for We are asking that you reflect on the unique skills and gifts that God has given to you, and determine ways that you can use those gifts to support God s church. The areas where you can share your time and your talents with King of Peace can fall under several categories including ways we Worship, Care, Support, Learn/Teach/ Grow, Share, and Communicate. You may well suggest ideas that we do not already have and categories that we have not yet dreamed of. As you reflect on God s gifts to you, what talents can you share with King of Peace for 2014? As you review the sampling of ministries in our parish and in our community, you will probably think of other ministries we need to be doing jobs we should be undertaking for our church and/or for our community. Please list those suggestions on your Time and Talent Pledge Card for 2014 or just jot them on a sheet of paper and put them in the offertory plate next Sunday.

3 WAYS WE WORSHIP TOGETHER. These are a few of the ways we give glory to God as we worship together. Music (piano, organ, bells, violin, guitar, voice, percussion, strings, brass, etc.) Children s Choir For children or teenagers based on interest with practices on Sunday afternoons as scheduled. Adult Choir These people provide choral music and vocal leadership during worship services. Altar Guild Helps prepare the altar for worship and the sacred elements for Communion. Training is provided. No experience necessary. Communion Bread Guild These people bake the special Communion Bread used at King of Peace. Usher/Greeter Helps greet people coming into worship at their service, hands out bulletins, answers basic questions, brings wine and bread down prior to Communion, counts congregation attendance, and assists with offering plates. Lay Reader Reads the Old Testament, leads the Psalms, reads prayers of the people. Training is available. Lay Eucharistic Minister This person vests and can be a Lay Reader and also assists in preparing communion with the Deacon and by administering the chalice. This is a licensed position in the diocese. Lay Eucharistic Visitor This person is a Lay Eucharistic Visitor licensed to take communion from the reserved sacraments to shut-ins. Training is provided. Altar Server This person is trained as a Crucifer, to assist with Communion Preparation, to hold the Gospel for the Deacon. Thurifer (Incense Bearer) This person is trained to carry the incense used for special feast days. Acolyte This person is trained to carry the processional torches or to serve as a Crucifer.

4 WAYS WE CARE FOR EACH OTHER These are ways that we show that we care for each other as a church family and community. Pastoral Care Ministry A team of parishioners who meet monthly and plan visits for those who are ill or homebound, in hospitals or nursing homes, or senior centers; who send cards for illnesses; who carry flowers and hold services in retirement centers. Also includes the Parish Nursing Program and monthly Blood Pressure Screenings after services. Food Ministry A team of parishioners who cook and deliver meals for those who have extended illnesses or are recovering from hospitalization. Newcomers Ministry A team of parishioners who don t have meetings but who greet newcomers to our church, introduce them to others, invite them to events, and help them feel a part of King of Peace. Sunday Hospitality Fellowship Team of volunteers who prepare and serve light refreshments, coffee and juices following Sunday services to allow fellowship among the congregants and with visitors. Prayer Shawl Ministry Team of parishioners who knit prayer shawls for distribution to those in need of special prayers and shawls or crosses and prayer beads. Feasts and Fellowships A team of parishioners who seldom meet as a large group, but who plan and coordinate church social functions, fellowship dinners and events such as annual Low Country Boils, Seder Dinners, Pancake Suppers, Lenten Soup Dinners, Burning of the Greens, Arts and Crafts Bazaar, Annual Book Sale, Blessing of the Animals, KOP Sock Hops, and many others. Koinonia Prayer Warriors Team of parishioners who function on-line to offer prayers for anyone in need of prayer or assistance.

5 WAYS WE SUPPORT THE OPERATIONS OF THE PARISH These are ways that we support the administrative and personnel, property and facility needs of our church. Secretarial Volunteers Parishioners who give ½ to 1 day weekly to serve as a receptionist/secretary for church office. Photographers Volunteers who take pictures of all church events for newspaper and diocese publicity and church archives. Telephone Tree Volunteers to organize and coordinate congregation telephone tree. Grounds & Facilities Individuals who help maintain and repair facilities at KOP, mow and weed grounds, plant flower beds, hold regular grounds work days. Stations of the Cross Trail Teams of volunteers who maintain our outdoor Stations of the Cross Trail, ensure seasonal repairs, and conduct special Stations of the Cross services. Marcus Dickman Memorial Garden Dedicated volunteers and coordinators who manage and maintain our Memorial Garden. KOP Labyrinth Parish volunteers who plan and hold Labyrinth prayer and meditation sessions, train others in ways to use the meditative experience, break down and set up chairs in the Nave to allow access to the Labyrinth. Sunday KOP Nursery Volunteers who will attain Diocese Safeguarding Children Certification and rotate as weekly volunteers of the Sunday Infants Nursery for the 10:00 Worship Service.

6 WAYS WE LEARN, TEACH, AND GROW These are ways in which we grow in our knowledge and understanding of what it means to be followers of Christ. Sunday School Volunteers who lead our children and youth Sunday Programs and who will develop and lead our adult Sunday School Programs. Children s Church Volunteers who will develop and guide our Children s Church programs. Bible Study and Book Study Classes Volunteers who organize and lead a variety of Bible Study experiences and Book Study sessions for purpose groups, such as a Men s Bible Class or Women s Book Study, at intervals throughout the year. Year-Long Bible Study Individual parishioners who undertake the Diocese Schedule of reading the whole Bible in one year either as individuals or in conjunction with Diocese programs. EFM Parishioners interested in Education for the Ministry through a four-year intensive extension course from Sewanee and which will meet periodically as a group class. For those who want to know more about the Bible and Church History. Episcopal 101 A seminar taught throughout the year by the Rector to prepare newcomers for confirmation or reception into the Episcopal Church and for those who just want to learn more about the church s history, traditions, and programs. Vacation Bible School Team of church parishioners who volunteer to plan and lead week-long or two-week vacation bible school for the church and community children during the summer recess. Honey Creek Youth Experiences Parishioners who assist in sending church youth to a variety of special camps and events at Honey Creek Episcopal Conference Center including Beginnings and Happenings by providing transportation or fees as needed. Cursillo Adult Christian enrichment experience.

7 WAYS WE SHARE...These are ways we reach out into the community to share the love of Christ with others. Outreach Teams Groups of volunteers who work with our community Outreach Programs including Chamber of Commerce, Missions for Camden, Camden House, Hospice of Golden Isles, Tops, Ravens of Elijah Food Ministry; and, as volunteers for Diocese events at Honey Creek Conference Center, as volunteers through the Pastoral Care Ministry to those in retirement centers, nursing homes, and hospitals; and, the many different special event and seasonal outreach programs such as Christmas for Camden Kids, Toys for Tots, Back to School Book Bags, and College Exam Week Kits. Expanding Outreach Teams Groups of parishioners who will volunteer to expand our relationships with the non-profit community partners who assisted with our 2013 Bazaar including Hospice of Golden Isles, Blood Alliance Bloodmobile, Missions for Camden, C.A.S.A., Safe Kids U.S.A, Habitat for Humanity, our own Deacon Taylor s Lighthorse Healthcare Inc., and Coastal Camden Art League. Outreach to Ancillary Church Groups Volunteers who work with youth and parents of groups sponsored by King of Peace but not always as King of Peace members; for example, our Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troop members and their parents, Venture Crew members and their parents, children in our King of Peace Day School and their parents.

8 WAYS WE COMMUNICATE These are ways in which we communicate with each other as a church family, with our larger community outside the church, and with our Diocese of Georgia family. KOP Website Volunteers who help with design, maintenance, and upkeep of the King of Peace Website at so that our information can be shared with anyone looking for a church in our community. KOP Facebook Page Volunteers who maintain our Facebook page with updated materials so those looking online for church information will see what King of Peace is offering. The Weekly KOP News Volunteers who write and send a short update at the beginning of each week to identify events and happenings at the church for that week. All parishioners should be on that list and please see Fr. Al if you are not receiving the updates. Publicity Team Volunteer writers and photographers who take the time to prepare news articles about King of Peace activities for publication in local newspapers and in the Diocese From the Field online newsletter. Monthly Newsletter Olive Branch or News From the Pews A volunteer or volunteers to write, edit, produce a monthly newsletter for the King of Peace parishioners. KOP Telephone Tree Volunteers are needed to organize another Telephone Tree so that we are all kept in the know about our church, its members, and its events.
