Two big questions are before us: first, Who Are We? Imagine if someone visiting at our worship service asked you about Trinity. How would you describe the congregation? What do we believe, value, and stand for? What is our role as a church in the Santa Barbara community? And second, Where Are We Going? Six or seven years from now what should we be like? What new challenges must we face? What new issues should be addressed in our life as the People of God in this time and place? I urge all of you to be thinking about these questions. Once past Easter you will be hearing more from us about how you can be a part of this conversation. Your views are important, and you will have ample opportunities to share them. May Easter enliven us spiritually and open us to serious reflection about Trinity s future. Clark Roof 2 our mission As God s people, we will share the love of God in a way that nurtures body, mind and spirit. Demonstrating God s love for the world, we will serve a diverse population and accept one another without reservations. By including all people as one family in worship and service to God, we are all empowered and inspired by the Spirit to continue the work of Jesus Christ.

TRINITY MEN S RETREAT 2015 May at Westmont College Campus EMBRACING MYSTERY Led by Rabbi Rami Shapiro, author of Rabbi Rami s Guide to God. We will structure the retreat around the Daily Office and meditation times and start after check-in on Friday afternoon with a short intro to Westmont and then dinner, followed by Rami s introduction to the nature of Mystery, as portrayed in Job and Ecclesiastes, on Friday evening. The rest of the weekend will be spent accessing the Mystery by entering the texts with our bodies. From Job: In my flesh I see God. Rami wants to help us discover where the wildness is for us right now. We on the planning committee want this to be not so much an intellectual discussion about God, but rather, an experience of God. This is why we have invited Rami to be with us. We plan to welcome 30 men to the retreat, and reservations are now open for Trinity men. The cost, including five meals and two nights lodging in a private room with shared bath, is about $200. Please markb1351@gmail.com to reserve a space, and send a check for $100, made out to Trinity, to lock in your reservation. After April 12, if there are spaces left, we will open it to the larger Santa Barbara community, where we already know there is interest because of Rami. We hope you can join us! --Mark B, for the planning committee: Michael Arnold, John Draper, Bob Richard, and Dennis Wylie 4 st. mike s corner CAFE PICASSO NEEDS MEALS Can you provide a meal or food for the pantry for Cafe Picasso?
