We believe that as people of God, we can all share in God's love; a love that is inclusive, ever abundant and meant to be expressed through our action in the world. We are delighted to have you with us and hope you will come back often. Prayer Ministers are available during communion at the 10am service. Proceed to the back of the church to receive prayer and laying on of hands. Children & Youth: Trinity offers religious formation for ages 3½ -12 through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Elizabeth s family, in conjunction with her medical team, made the extremely difficult decision to discontinue life support. There had been extensive stroke damage to Elizabeth s brain, following her surgery in late November, such that it could not sustain her. Elizabeth s family is extremely grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support and prayer from friends, colleagues and parishioners these past weeks. They ask for your grace in respecting their privacy at this time. As plans are made for a memorial service, those details will be shared with you. Please keep Elizabeth, her family, and all those who knew, cared for, and loved her in your prayers. O God, whose mercies cannot be numbered: accept our prayers on behalf of your servant Elizabeth, and grant her an entrance into the land of light and joy, in the fellowship of your saints; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. our mission 2019 BUDGET FORUM RECAP Are you asking yourself why we need to raise an additional $100,000 in pledge income for 2019? Your vestry answers why BUDGET HIGHLIGHTS $23,131 in additional expenses (a 3% increase from our 2018 budget) Here s how that breaks down: $18,902 of the additional expenses (or 82% of this increase) is in just three areas: 1. Assistant Sexton on Sunday $3, Worship and Music $6,706 Second of 3-year step increases in salary for our Ministers of Music and additional funding for organ and piano tuning/ maintenance 3. Contract Services $8,738 primarily due to landscape maintenance being moved from capital project funding into our annual operating budget The remaining $4,229 consists of overall increased costs of doing business, including a modest cost of living increase (2%) for staff. SO WHY DO WE NEED AN ADDITIONAL $96,666 IN INCOME? The fact is that we have had a structural deficit in our budgets for the past several years. The Vestry has budgeted annually for a full time Rector and Associate Rector at appropriate salary and benefits levels. However, over the past three years, we have not had to actually pay full annual salaries and benefits to our clergy and, until recently, the Associate Rector s salary was below diocesan standards for a church of our size. We have finished the past two years in the black (barely) only because we have had substantial savings in clergy salaries and benefits. With the extension of Laurel s contract as our Associate Rector and the arrival of Elizabeth as our full-time Rector with attendant benefits for both, we will need to bridge a $73,535 structural deficit in addition to the $23,131 in increased expenses for Claude Garciacelay, Senior Warden Michael Dean, Treasurer Jean Davis, Vestry Member As God s people, we will share the love of God in a way that nurtures body, mind and spirit. Demonstrating God s love for the world, we will serve a diverse population and accept one another without reservations. By including all people as one family in worship and service to God, we are all empowered and inspired by the Spirit to continue the work of Jesus Christ.

3 2019 VESTRY NOMINATIONS In December, the Vestry approved the following slate of nominees for 2019: Jeannie Christensen, Clark Roof, Jim Sterne and Steve Thompson. This slate will be presented at the Annual Meeting on February 10. The Vestry nominating committee consisted of outgoing Vestry members: Michael Dean, Jean Davis and Patsy Price as well as parishioners-at-large: David Gartrell, Bill Ferguson, Mary Jane Salcido, Claude Garciacelay, Melinda Carey and Anne Shaw. Our Vestry bylaws do not allow for nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting. For some time we have practiced presenting a slate without a contested election. However, if someone wants to nominate someone outside of the nominating process, which will result in an election, then please contact the Clerk of the Vestry, Melinda Carey, in order to ascertain the qualifications for Vestry service. Any new nominations must be to Claude before January 31, Please contact Melinda at melindacarey@ icloud.com Baptism, a principal sacrament of the church, is a joyous public service of initiation. The gathered community takes vows to support the newly baptized, celebrates with and welcomes them. At Trinity we baptize people of any age within regular worship services. Our next baptism is: Sunday, January 13 Easter Eve Vigil, April 20 The Baptism Prep Class will be on Saturday, March 23 from 9-11am. For information contact: Laurel Johnston, ljohnston@trinitysb.org.
