Parish Notes: In the column to the right you will find the scripture readings, hymns and other music for this service. The following pages contain further information about today s worship and our upcoming meetings and events. Hymn Singing: The hymn numbers are listed to the right and on the pillars at the front of the church. The Hymnal is the red book located in the pew rack in front of you. Reading the Lessons: If you would like to follow the scripture readings, Bibles are available at the back of the church. Open Communion: From whatever tradition you come and wherever you are in your journey of faith, you are welcome at our table. You will find simple directions on how to participate in the worship bulletin. Children & Youth: Trinity offers church school programs for ages 3½ -12. Our program, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, meets each Sunday starting at 9:00 a.m. in the church school building behind the main sanctuary building. Ages 3-5 meet upstairs, grades 1-3 meet downstairs and grades 4-6 meet upstairs in the church school. Trinity Youth Group includes all 7th-12th graders, meeting approximately twice each month, usually on Sunday afternoons. See articles in Parish Notes for information on upcoming activities. Children at Communion: Children are brought into the church during the Offertory Hymn to join us for Holy Communion. At this point, you are welcome to gather your children from the nursery to be with you. Nursery & Toddler care is available 9:30-11:15 a.m. (Ask an usher for directions). We will dedicate our donor wall as well as our Trinity Legacy Circle. Following both services will be a catered, festive reception, as we honor this amazing milestone in the life of the parish. We are grateful to so many who gave so generously of their time, talent and treasure for the care of our building and grounds. It will be sent by to each family within the parish three times over three weeks. Please return completed survey by May 31. Also share with all family members so each can complete it. Each Sunday there will be computers available in the Parish Hall - plus paper copies - and members of the Portfolio Committee are available to help in filling out the survey. Yamaha Artist Brian Chin is an international trumpet soloist and an advocate for new music. He has commissioned and premiered many works as the Artistic Director of the Universal Language 21st Century Music Project. Brian also performs on baroque trumpet, is a co-founder of the early music ensemble, the Seattle Trumpet Consort, serves as principal trumpet for the Tacoma Symphony, and regularly performs with the Seattle Symphony. SUN BLOCK SUNDAY - JUNE 28 During this time of year the ultraviolet rays of the sun are at their strongest. Because of this, our life giving sun is also at it s most dangerous, and is the leading cause of cancer. This year 3.5 million new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in our country. One good way to help prevent more cases is to use sunblock. However, this simple task can be very challenging to a person who needs to consider food and a place to live first. This is where YOU can help! Sun Block Sunday will take place at Trinity on June 28th. On that day please bring as many tubes of sunblock as you can and place them in the special collection baskets. Since each Level of the program covers a range of ages, often several lessons are offered each Sunday, with most children taking part in only one. Level I children will celebrate in their atrium, each choosing a gift of the Spirit to claim as their own, while Levels II and III will join the celebration in the sanctuary. 6 shared ministry OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED IN MINISTRY Transition House Provides food, shelter and services to families who have lost their homes. A team of Trinity volunteers serves dinner to residents once a month. Contact: Michael Arnold (Saturday coordinator) Teresa Pietsch (Sunday coordinator) Community Kitchen Provides hot nutritious meals to the hungry and homeless in Santa Barbara. A group of Trinity volunteers serves lunch on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month throughout the year at Casa Esperanza. Contact: Sarah Dobbs Faulding Hotel A historic hotel that houses the working poor and residents on a fixed income. Trinity volunteers take part in a mutual ministry of learning and socializing each month on the third Saturday with the residents, providing lunch with an activity or program.
