Part of our inclusiveness at Trinity is providing a spiritual experience for all of our members. This service is greatly appreciated by each of the recipients. In many instances it is the highlight of their week to join us in church. Volunteers spend fifteen minutes after the church service transporting the individual to the front of the church to meet their transportation. The volunteer is not responsible for any lifting. The goal is to have enough volunteers to schedule each person once every five weeks. Sign up at the Ministry Fair on Feb. 15 or contact Norma Stuck: or normaestuck@gmail.com. In this journey, the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program uses the image of the True Vine as a metaphor for how Jesus teaches us all how to do justice work, love mercy, and walk humbly with God and one another. The children (along with their parents) are currently participating in a series of meditations with Mary Gibson and Betty Wenzel, which will lead up to our Eucharist Retreat, the weekend of March 13-15th. We look forward with our children to the celebration of the retreat s culmination, and if you would like to find out more about how you might help with the great events around this weekend, please call or Elizabeth Hess, ehess@trinitysb.org. TODAY IN CHURCH SCHOOL Children at Trinity meet most Sundays for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program (CGS). Since each Level of the program covers a range of ages, often several lessons are offered each Sunday, with most children taking part in only one. Today Level I will work with the Good Shepherd materials to reflect on the Parable of the Found Sheep, and consider the priest s gesture offering the blessed bread and wine to God. Level II will return to the Pin Map material depicting the Land of Israel, and work with materials for the parable of the Pharisee & the Tax Collector. Level III will begin meditations for the Eucharist retreat and do general atrium work. TRINITY YOUTH GROUP Attention Youth 7th to 12th Grades! In seeking a fun, engaging way for people to learn about the men and women comprising the Church s Calendar of Saints, Tim came up with this unique Lenten devotion. Combining his love of sports with his passion for the lives of the saints. The format is straightforward: 32 saints are placed into a tournament-like single elimination bracket. Each pairing remains open for a set period of time and people vote for their favorite saint. 16 saints make it to the Round of the Saintly Sixteen; eight advance to the Round of the Elate Eight; four make it to the Faithful Four; two to the Championship; and the winner is awarded the coveted Golden Halo. The first round consists of basic biographical information about each of the 32 saints. Things get a bit more interesting in the subsequent rounds as we offer quotes and quirks, explore legends and even move into the area of saintly kitsch. We ve inspired thousands of people along the way by forming an online community of people who are passionate about taking their faith but not themselves too seriously. Articles and spots about Lent Madness have appeared in the Washington Post, NPR, Huffington Post, FOX News, NBC and even Sports Illustrated. Trinity will have the bracket poster proudly displayed each Sunday so you can track your favorites as they duke it out for the Golden Halo! You can get your own Saintly Scorecard at the Resource Table and keep your own bracket going. Join the Madness!! You can join the fun on Facebook just search Lent Madness on their website Please remember these prayer requests during the Prayers of the People and the week ahead. *Please Remember In Your Prayers: Bob Richard, Sue Culver, John T. 6 PSALM 50:1-6 REFRAIN The LORD, the God of gods, has spoken and has called the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion, perfect in its beauty, God shines forth in glory. Our God will come and will not keep silence; before God there is a consuming fame, and round about a raging storm. REFRAIN God calls the heavens and the earth from above to witness the judgment of the chosen people. Gather before me my loyal followers, those who have made a covenant with me and sealed it with sacrifice. Let the heavens declare the rightness of God s cause; for it is God who is judge. REFRAIN OFFERTORY ANTHEM TEXT: (Sung in Swahili; English translation): They have blessings, those who pray; Jesus himself said so. Alleluia! They have peace. They have joy. They have well-being. COMMUNION ANTHEM TEXT: I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eat of this bread, he shall live forever. Alleluia. (John 6:51) COMMUNION REFRAINS: Lord Jesus come Lord Jesus come, Good Shepherd come. The bread is on the table; lead me to you. Lord Jesus come, Good Shepherd come.
