That I might enjoy all things. I got nothing that I asked for, But everything I had hoped for. Almost despite myself, My unspoken prayers were answered. In the first reading from Acts, we hear of the first Pentecost when the mighty rush of wind and the Holy Spirit filled the house where the disciples gathered. In Paul s Letter to the Corinthians, he describes spiritual gifts which always spring from the one true God. In the Gospel from John, we hear of Jesus coming to the disciples, breathing on them and telling them to receive the Holy Spirit. I want to THANK all our Bingo workers for the gift of their presence as volunteers. Without them we would not do as well with Bingo and the Parish truly needs the income. Because we are going to have to reorganize we will not have Bingo until September. Please note you will be receiving a mailing during the summer months. Again, I am so very grateful for your willingness to give of your time to volunteer for your parish. Today we celebrate Family Life and the gift of family to one another. Parish families will bring up the gifts during our Masses. There are special gifts for the children and one for adults as long as they last. This is a reminder that we are celebrating the Year of the Family. Today at the 11:30 AM Mass we will honor the members of our Rome Police Department and THANK them for their great service to our community. The ceremony will take place after the Mass. All are welcome to stay! Humorous Church Notes Dirty Bibles lead to dirty lives. Barbara Green remains in the hospital and needs another transfusion. She is also having trouble sleeping and requests tapes of Father John s sermons. In the beginning there was nothing and God said Let there be light, and there was still nothing but everybody could see it. Please continue to pray for our sick and hospitalized and for Vocations to Priesthood.

5 Page 5 ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY GARDEN CART RAFFLE: The winner of the Garden Cart raffle is Diane Brockway. Congratulations Diane!! June 21st Last Meeting Our final meeting before summer break is June 21st at 6 pm. We will resume our meetings in September. This is not a business meeting but a Social meeting for ARS members and all ladies of our church. It s a fun evening where we order pizza and we hold an Auction. Each attendee is asked to bring in a wrapped item not to exceed $10.00 in value. Cindy Gould our Auctioneer will manage the bidding. All proceeds benefits our treasury for our parish needs. Good Buy & Bizarre Just a reminder, we are arranging for a fall bizarre. We are asking if you are Spring Cleaning to put aside anything you would like to donate with the exception of clothing. Also we are looking for donated homemade crafts of any kind. It will be a fun event, a place to find that discarded treasure and enjoy refreshments while you browse. Take Care of One Another The Family...is the teacher of acceptance and solidarity: it is within the family that education substantially draws upon relationships of solidarity: in the family one learns that the loss of health is no a reason for discriminating against human life; the family teaches us not to fall into individualism and to balance the I with the we. It is there that taking care of one another becomes a foundation of human life and a moral attitude to foster, through the values of commitment and solidarity. The witness of the family is crucial, before the whole of society, in reaffirming the importance of a elderly person as a member of a community, who has his or her own missions to accomplish and who only seemingly receives with nothing to offer. ENICHING THE CHURCH Pastoral Letter on the Role of the Family in the life of the Church Syracuse and Beyond Prayer and Worship (continued) Sadly, many families and many people today do not pray, really pray. Some simply do not know how. If the family is going to be a source of enrichment for the Church of Syracuse and beyond then it must first return to prayer together. Even a few simple words of prayer each day can do immense good for our families. Pastors and parishes throughout our diocese would do well not only to teach families how to pray together, but also to offer opportunities for them to do so on a regular basis. For example. The Liturgy of the Hours, The Rosary, Holy Hours, morning and evening prayers. prayer before meals, etc.
