EUCHARISTIC HOLY HOUR (WITH BENEDICTION) Monday, October 12 (second Monday of each month) will be our next Holy Hour beginning at 12:05 PM in the Chapel. RCIA - RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS ARE YOU CATHOLIC? Would you like to know more about the Catholic faith? Are you or someone you know interested in converting from another Christian religion, or maybe someone you know has never been baptized and is interested in becoming a Catholic? RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults can be one way of answering these questions. Inquiry sessions will be held on Sundays following the 8:30 AM Mass (in the Lounge, adjacent to Bona Hall). If you or someone you know are interested in learning what the RCIA has to offer, contact Wayne Efferson at x206, or at natwe@nativityparish.com. TAIZE PRAYER Wednesday, October 21 at 6:30 PM in the Chapel. Taize (pronounced-- Teh-ZAY) is an ecumenical, peaceful way to pray, using easy to learn musical chants, silent meditation, and scripture readings...a meditative, common prayer. Gathered in faith, Christians come together to sing uncomplicated repetitive short songs, like breath prayers, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty of the Spirit in its simplicity. A few words sung over and over again (mantra) reinforce the meditative quality of prayer. They express a basic reality of faith that can quickly be grasped by the intellect, and will gradually penetrate the whole being. ACTIVE SERVICE MEN & WOMEN Nativity Parish would like to honor and pay tribute to the service men and women from our parish. If you have a son, daughter, spouse, other relative or friend who is in active service, either in the United States or overseas, please let us know by October 30, We will be publishing a list of active service personnel in the parish bulletin the weekend before Veteran s Day. Please send the name/names along with the branch of service and their location to kpalluconi@aol.com, call the parish office at or add their name to the sheet on the podium next to the United States flag in the Narthex. May God Bless all of our Veterans and Active Service Men and Women. 4

7 FAITH FORMATION Contact: Dr. Robert Berchmans x216 or SEEKING SUBSTITUTE CATECHISTS FOR OUR CHILDREN AND YOUTH Parents and other generous adults serving as substitute catechists are another reason why our Religion Education programs are so effective. Many of us might feel called to serve as catechists, but do not feel we have enough knowledge of the faith to teach effectively. Not true remember, God doesn t call the equipped, He equips the called. Our staff, and your fellow catechists, plus God s grace, are there for you! All catechists need training to be effective in the classroom, just like each of us do in our workplace. We offer training sessions throughout the year to help all catechists know their material and connect with other teachers. Our staff provides personal support and individual training for those with less experience. OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH Catholics are called to renew their personal commitment to defend all human life, especially the most vulnerable members of the human family. During this Respect Life Month, as we celebrate God s great gift of life, let us pray and reflect on how each of us might renew our commitment to this gift. Stop in the Narthex in October to reflect and enjoy the pictures and items on display supporting and giving thanks to God for the gift of human life. MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER WEEKEND Looking for a weekend away for just the two of you? A Marriage Encounter Weekend offers you this experience. It is a time to renew your relationship, away from the everyday distraction of life. It is an opportunity to strengthen your communication and promote greater intimacy in your life together.
