Both Dale and Vickie are incredibly compassionate people. They are always willing to lend a hand where needed. Dale is a very talented wood crafter and has helped with various projects around the parish. Dale is also a lead usher at Sunday s 10:15 am Mass. Vickie shares her faith by being a reliable and kindhearted Eucharistic Minister as well as being a helper with the Parish mailings. Both, Dale and Vickie are extremely helpful by selling scrip or raffle tickets on the weekends. Dale and Vickie do this with a kind heart and a big smile. As we recognize them for the wonderful things they do for our parish this week please greet them with a handshake, hug, and/or a smile in thanks for all that they do. 4 4 WORSHIP NEWS Contact: Wayne Efferson, Servant Leader , x206 or EUCHARISTIC HOLY HOUR (WITH BENEDICTION) In Bishop Ricken s recent pastoral reflections, Teach My People to Pray, Phase 1 of Disciples on the Way: Prayer and Holiness, he asked that each parish offer a monthly Eucharistic Holy Hour Service. Since we, Nativity, currently offer Eucharistic Adoration each Monday (9:30 AM - 1:00 PM), we will include a Holy Hour Service (Benediction when a Deacon leads), on the second Monday of each Month. Our next HOLY HOUR will be on Monday, February 13 at 12:05 PM. TAIZE PRAYER TAIZE prayer will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 15 at 6:30 PM (Chapel). TAIZE (pronounced ~~ Teh-ZAY) is an ecumenical, peaceful way to pray, using easy to learn musical chants, silent meditation and scripture readings.a meditative, common prayer. Gathered in faith, Christians come together to sing uncomplicated repetitive short songs, like breath prayers, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty of the Spirit in its simplicity. A few words sung over and over again (mantra) reinforce the meditative quality of prayer. They express a basic reality of faith that can quickly be grasped by the intellect, and will gradually penetrate the whole being. NURSING HOME VOLUNTEERS SUNDAY COMMUNION DISTRIBUTION Our brothers and sisters at Woodside Lutheran and Maple Ridge Nursing Homes long to receive Our Lord in the sacrament of Holy Communion. Bringing Holy Communion to these residents who cannot attend Mass is a long standing practice of our Catholic tradition; especially our parish of Nativity. For this ministry to be effective and sustained, more volunteers/ministers are needed, especially at Woodside Lutheran and Maple Ridge Nursing Homes. We are in desperate need of more volunteers/ ministers because some of our current members have left the ministry due to death, illness or taking leave after many years of service. This is a simple way to volunteer for an hour or so one Sunday a month. Visiting the Sick is one of the Corporal Works of Mercy of our faith that we must practice in action. The faith-filled Catholic residents of these nursing homes long and look forward each Sunday to receive Communion. Won t you consider helping? We are looking to add members to its group in hopes of helping our parish prepare well for all liturgical celebrations (Mass). The LITURGY is the work of the FAITHFUL when we come to celebrate Sunday Eucharist (Mass). Our purpose, duty and responsibility is to direct in an orderly function, the spiritual and worship life at Nativity Parish. We foster spirituality of the parish community through the encouragement and enhancement of daily prayer, devotions and other liturgical celebrations. In addition, we work closely with all Liturgical Ministries so that all who participate in the Mass by way of a ministry, e.g. Lectors, Ushers, may feel comfortable in their role as they serve the Assembly. There is much to prepare when we gather for Mass so that the gospel message is effectively conveyed through music, scripture, art and environment, and prayer. Dear Friends, By reaching out to those in need, as the Lord tells us to do in the first reading, we too can feel the light and warmth of God in our hearts. It is important to set the example and inspire disciples to do the same. The troubled need our love and support now more than ever. Maybe you know somebody who needs help working through a problem. Catholic Charities is a great place to refer people. The counseling services available through Catholic Charities provide people in darkness, the inspiration to need to turn things around. 9 RUMMAGE, BAKE & BOOK SALE Nativity Women s Guild will be having our annual Rummage, Bake & Book Sale on April 28, 8:30 AM-4:00 PM, and April 29, 8:30 AM-Noon. We will be accepting items now until April 27; we do accept clothes, all sizes, that are clean and usable. No electronics please. We are in need of used books and bakery for the bakery booth. You can bring bakery to Bona Hall on Thursday, April 27 or early on April 28. Please put on paper plates and mark the contents. All items should be brought to Bona Hall and marked: RUMMAGE SALE. VIRTUS is the brand name that identifies best practices programs designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote rightdoing within religious organizations and to raise awareness regarding sexual abuse in our Church and society. The National Catholic Risk Retention Group Inc. created VIRTUS to empower organizations and people to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with the Church through a continuous process of training and information. Who has to attend a VIRTUS Protecting God s Children Adult Awareness Session in the Diocese of Green Bay? Volunteers who have contact with children, young people and individuals at risk as part of their volunteer duties are required to complete the VIRTUS Adult Awareness Training Session. Sometimes we need to make cancellations. Please know that if local school classes are cancelled for the day, OR if they are delayed then there will be no Mass or Communion Prayer Service that morning. If they are cancelled solely due to snow, the Parish Office will be closed as well. The Office and Church will not close due to cold temperatures. ROSE BUD / LOVE LIFE Following each Mass the weekend of February 18/19, there will be an opportunity to make a contribution to the Love Life program.
