THE BOOK OF THE DEAD In Memory Of Your Loved Ones This book is prominently placed by the Baptismal Font during the month of November to honor our deceased brothers and sisters. It sits on a stand that is draped with a Funeral Pall and illuminated by the Paschal (Easter) Candle. The Font is a place of life and death, for it is where we are baptized into Christ Jesus; where all of us die, are buried, and are raised to new life in Christ Jesus. Everyone is welcome to inscribe the names of those they mourn so that the assembled community can prayerfully remember them. This is a good day, a good season to recall family, friends, or relatives who have died. It s a time to tend family graves, bring flowers and to tell stories we remember about these people. We will remember those who have gone before us, marked with the sign of faith at all three Masses on November 3/4, especially those whose funerals were celebrated this past year. Family members whose loved ones funerals were celebrated this past year at Nativity will hear the reading of their name and be invited to take home their loved ones labeled candle from around the Baptismal Font, after the Mass they attend. This candle is a symbol of the resurrection, a hope and belief that all will rise with Christ. THE SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS - is a holy day of obligation this year. We will celebrate this wonderful liturgy with two Masses: Thursday, November 1 at 8:00 AM and 6:30 PM. This day we honor all the saints, both known and unknown, whom we believe are in heaven. All Liturgical Ministers are requested to assist with these Masses; please sign-up in the Sacristy and Ushers Room. Liturgical Ministers Day of Renewal (In-service) - will be on Saturday, November 3 (9-11 AM) and Monday, November 5 (6-8 PM) in Bona Hall. Chris Gulbrand, retired Kewaunee Sherriff s Department, will be our guest presenter this year. His presentation will be KEEPING THEM SAFE: New Guidelines for Emergency Operations, Evacuation, Shelter and Intruder. This is a very important session and all Sacristans, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Greeters, and Ushers (also Carport and Video Ministers) be in attendance at one of these sessions. The primary purpose of gathering annually is for spiritual growth, fellowship and ministry instruction. Our session will begin with a meal so please RSVP Wayne at natwe@nativityparish.com.

4 Let us know who has served our country! Nativity Parish would like to honor our U.S. military veterans who have served (not currently serving) in any of the branches including Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Guard or Reserves. We will be publishing the names of veterans and also honoring them at Masses on November 10-11, Please send the names to the Parish Office at call or You can also sign their names on the sign-up sheet in the Gathering Space next to the podium and U.S. Flag. Names are due by October 31, STEWARDSHIP MINISTRY NEEDS YOUR HELP! We are looking for pictures or stories of people helping other people. Here are just a few examples: Helping someone with their groceries, bringing communion to homebound, helping your neighbor and many other things. Once again, one of Nativity s parishioners will be traveling to Texas and then across the border to a Mission in Mexico. She brings them clothing and shoes, but the most requested item is shampoo and personal hygiene items, but especially shampoo. Hotel sized and partially used bottles will also be accepted. We had a terrific amount of donations last year that were truly appreciated. If anyone would like to donate to this wonderful cause to provide for people at the Mission, please drop items off by October 31 in the Parish Office during office hours. Thank you! 7 REPORTING SEXUAL ABUSE If you know of an incident of sexual abuse of a person who is now under the age of 18 by a priest, deacon, employee or volunteer, PLEASE IMMEDIATELY CALL THE CIVIL AUTHORITIES AND THEN THE DIOCESE. If the person was abused as a minor but is now an adult, please contact: Office of Safe Environment Diocese of Green Bay or (toll free) We also encourage you to report the incident to local civil authorities. YOU MATTER TO US THERE IS HOPE! Crisis Center Pregnancy Hotline BAPTISMS Parents may schedule their child s Baptism after they have completed a short preparation program. Call the Parish Office at at least 60 days before Baptism for an interview and a preparation session. SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK December 30 This Sacrament is offered to anyone in need of Christ s healing touch. The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament for those who are in need of physical, emotional, or spiritual healing. Think of friends and loved ones who may want to receive this sacrament and invite them to this Mass. RCIA RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS Do you want to know more about the Catholic faith?
