HOSPITALITY Hospitality means receiving guests generously: my house is your house! Abraham and Sarah, the parents of us all, receive the Lord and get a wonderful response: You will have now a son. Sarah laughs but then produces Isaac. Mary and Martha receive Jesus. Like Mary and Martha, we bask quietly in God s presence, and despite concern, should avoid overfussiness in our worship. When we open ourselves to God, we share hospitality and the gift of God s Son. How do you receive the Lord? Text, Philip J. Sandstrom, STD 2000, OCP. All rights reserved. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Looking For Another Form of Prayer? Give Eucharistic Adoration a try. It is offered on Mondays from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM in the Chapel. Come and pray before the Blessed Sacrament for half an hour or more. The sign up sheet is located at the rear of church next to the poster (Eucharistic Adoration). Also, as a reminder, whenever a national holiday is celebrated on a Monday, i.e. Memorial Day and Labor Day, Adoration will be suspended. ONLINE GIVING Are you going to your cottage this summer? Would you like to be able to continue giving while you are away? We offer automatic payments through online giving. Go to our website at and click on the online giving logo. If you have questions contact Vicki at the Parish Office at STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her." Luke 10:42 The story of Martha and Mary reminds us that God wants each of us to serve Him, just as Martha so graciously served. However, we will never know what God wants us to do unless we spend some time like Mary did, just sitting quietly at God's feet and listening to His words. 2

4 N ATIVITY OF OUR LORD PARISH GREEN BAY PAGE 4 WHERE ARE YOU? Our parishioners who are homebound, in assisted living or hospice, or are nursing home residents - we have not forgotten you, but we need to know where you are living. If you have a relative or neighbor who is not able to attend Mass due to the above situations, please notify Laurie Johnson, Pastoral Associate at Nativity. Call , ext. 209 or natlj@nativityparish.com. ELIZABETH MINISTRY WORKSHOP July 24, 1:00-3:00 PM - Bona Hall Elizabeth Ministry reaches out to the young families in our parish. Periodically we gather to assemble or prepare supplies, such as putting together Baptism gift bags, making birth congratulations cards, making gifts and coloring birthday and baptism anniversary cards for children 4 and under, and other fun projects. If you are available to help please call Laurie Johnson, Family Life Director at , ext. 209 or natlj@nativityparish.com. SEEKING CATECHISTS FOR OUR CHILDREN AND YOUTH Parents and other generous adults serving as catechists are the reason why our Religion Education programs are so effective. Many of us might feel called to serve as catechists, but do not feel we have enough knowledge of the faith to teach effectively. Not true remember, God doesn t call the equipped, He equips the called. Our staff, and your fellow catechists, plus God s grace, are there for you! Catechists need training to be effective in the classroom, just like each of us do in our workplace. We offer training sessions throughout the year to help catechists know their material and connect with other teachers. Our staff provides personal support and individual training for those with less experience. There is also a special West Side Green Bay workshop on October 30th, Beginning With Open Hearts, which is very helpful for beginning catechists. Many catechists prefer to teach as part of a team. Do you know of someone you would like to partner with spouse, child, parent, friend? We very much welcome these arrangements. Once again this year, as a way of saying thanks to our catechists, we are waiving the fee for one child enrolled in a Faith Formation program if a parent serves as a catechist for Religion Education Classes or Confirmation (or a stipend if one has no children in the program.) If you are not currently serving as a catechist, but would like to find out more, please contact Jamie Whalen this summer at or natjw@nativityparish.com. That way, we can find out if it is the right fit for you. We need more great catechists. is the Holy Spirit calling you? CONFIRMATION PARENT/CANDIDATE ORIENTATION MEETING Choose One: Tuesday, July 30, 6:30-7:30 PM, Bona Hall OR Wednesday, July 31, 6:30-7:30 PM, Bona Hall With joy in the Holy Spirit, we invite incoming high school juniors to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation! We are grateful for, and depend upon, parent support during the process. All families with youth enrolled in Religion Education classes received a mailing in June with information about this Sacrament, and a gold confirmation information form to complete prior to this meeting. At this meeting, you will be able to: receive information about the program and about choosing a sponsor; register your son or daughter for Nativity Faith Formation; turn in the information form; and pay the Sacrament Fee ($10). Please contact Christine Wolf at , or natcw@nativityparish if you cannot attend.
