CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CALENDAR RAFFLE WINNERS FOR SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing. 28th Carol Kempen $ nd Christopher Clark $ th Brian Luchs $ nd Gerald Nichols $ th Shelley Thelen $ rd Chris Thetreau $ nd Jan Rottier $ th Julie Reeck $25.00 CST here, hopping in again. This week has brought many new experiences to my attention. I ve encountered the excitement of the new football season, the quinceañeras, the weddings, the funerals, CST the school days, watching the leaves turn color, Mexican Independence Day celebrations and even the noon hour drive thru line at McDonald s. There s a sense of busyness everywhere. As I hopped across Oneida Street on my way to get a fly-burger at McDonald s, I thought to myself how our community is constantly moving and grooving. There s always some place to be or something to do. So I decided, after my fly-burger of course, to hop over to Nativity of Our Lord Parish, and sit in the church in front of the tabernacle and just be. It was a strange feeling at first, but I must admit I liked it. I pulled out my cell phone and immediately googled my favorite Bible verse Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10). You know in the busyness of serving others and attending to my own needs each day, I get tired, weary, and just plain worn out. And, often I have nothing left in me to give to others. But, those few minutes in church, in front of the tabernacle Being Still, allowed me to recharge and regain a sense of strength, purpose, and admiration from our Lord. When do you have the opportunity to stop and be still this week? Will you be able to stop and step away from the busyness? I m hopping off now, I want to find other tabernacles to stop in front of and be still. Perhaps I will check out St. Elizabeth Ann Seton s. I hear they have a beautiful tabernacle and prayer space too. Enjoy your week! 5 WORLD MISSION APPEAL This consolidated diocesan collection rejoices in our unity as missionaries! Each time we celebrate Mass, we are invited to go out as missionary disciples, each generously offering their talents, creativity, wisdom and experience in order to bring the message of God s tenderness and compassion to the entire human family. We recommit ourselves to our common vocation, through Baptism, to be missionaries. Together with our brothers and sisters in the Missions we offer our prayers, sacrifices, and participation in the Eucharist so others may come to know Jesus and to experience His mercy as we express our merciful concern for those in greatest need! In our Diocese, this collection includes the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. The Society for the Propagation of the Faith is the Holy Father s chief missionary arm. It provides an opportunity to support the lifegiving presence of the Church among the poor and marginalized to 1,111 mission dioceses all over the world. This collection will take place after communion; please be as generous as you are able.thank You! Behold, I am with you always, until the end of age. MATTHEW 28:20 October is Respect Life Month. During this time, we are reminded how precious life is at all ages and we are called to reflect on every stage of life. Respect Life material is available to help Catholics understand, value, and become engaged with supporting the God-given dignity of every person which naturally leads to protecting the gift of every person s life. Please stop by the Narthex to enjoy the pictures on display, utilize the informational brochures and take an item(s) to serve as a reminder of our purpose here on earth. Respect life materials are available for free online, along with additional materials that are online-only.
