ADVERTISER OF THE WEEK Nativity is an Amazing Parish because of people like Brian Luchs, a parish member with a passion for sharing his time and talents in multiple facets here at Nativity. He is a very active member of the Knights of Columbus, which includes sharing his Booyah making talents. Brian shares his gifts with being a member of the Social Concerns Ministry. He also, shows his dedication to his faith by opening up the church on weekends. Brian s faith is put into action when he helps with the NEW Shelter meals. He does all of this with a kind heart and a smile, and we are so blessed to have him here at Nativity. As we recognize Brian for the wonderful things he does for our parish this week, please remember to give him a humble handshake, a hug and/or a smile in thanks for all he does. Note: Nativity Parish will recognize at least one parishioner, business sponsor or member of the community each week under our Amazing Parishioners section of the bulletin, which includes uploads to our Facebook and Web page. 2nd If you have a recognition topic, please contact the Parish Office at CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CALENDAR RAFFLE WINNERS FOR JANUARY Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing payment. 4 WORSHIP NEWS Contact: Wayne Efferson, Servant Leader , x206 or TAIZE PRAYER TAIZE prayer will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18 at 6:30 PM (Chapel). TAIZE (pronounced ~~ Teh-ZAY) is an ecumenical, peaceful way to pray, using easy to learn musical chants, silent meditation and scripture readings.a meditative, common prayer. Gathered in faith, Christians come together to sing uncomplicated repetitive short songs, like breath prayers, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty of the Spirit in its simplicity. A few words sung over and over again (mantra) reinforce the meditative quality of prayer. They express a basic reality of faith that can quickly be grasped by the intellect, and will gradually penetrate the whole being. For in-depth information visit SONG LEADERS & ORGANISTS MEETING Following TAIZE Prayer on January 18th, all Song Leaders and Organists will meet in Church at 7:30 PM to begin preparing for Lent/Easter WINTER ORDINARY TIME CHURCH DECORATORS Thank you for helping take down/store the Christmas decorations and put up the Winter Ordinary Time decorations. The Church looks amazing! YOUR HELP IS NEEDED The Worship Ministry really needs your assistance with preparing our worship space for the celebration of Mass through the ministry of Church Helper. On any given week there are at least 1,500 worshippers who come through our church doors to celebrate the Eucharist (Mass). With all those worshippers comes a messy pew e.g. songbooks, pew cards not properly stored in the hymnal racks and/or bulletins and trash left in the pew after Mass. This ministry attends to these items along with cleaning the altar candles and holy water bowls at the entrances. A new schedule will be due in January and more Helpers are needed because of winter vacation and illness; we have lost four of our Church Helper Ministers and we need your help. The time involved to complete these tasks average an hour once or twice a month, depending on the number of minsters in the rotation. This is a wonderful, simple and fulfilling ministry (volunteer) experience that is flexible and doesn t require much time, while giving you a sense of creating a spirit of hospitality for those who come to celebrate the Mass. You would be asked to be on a rotating schedule with other volunteers, so your frequency of service depends on how many are involved in this ministry. Won t you consider this fulfilling ministry by contacting Wayne Efferson, Director of Worship at ext. 206 or natwe@nativityparish.com WORSHIP MINISTRY We are looking to add members to its group in hopes of helping our parish prepare well for all liturgical celebrations (Mass). The LITURGY is the work of the FAITHFUL when we come to celebrate Sunday Eucharist (Mass). Our purpose, duty and responsibly is to direct in an orderly function, the spiritual and worship life at Nativity Parish. We foster spirituality of the parish community through the encouragement and enhancement of daily prayer, devotions and other liturgical celebrations. In addition, we work closely with all Liturgical Ministries so that all who participate in the Mas by way of a ministry e.g. Lectors, Ushers, may feel comfortable and in their role as they serve the Assembly. There is much to prepare when we gather for Mass so that the gospel message is effectively conveyed through music, scripture, art and environment, and prayer. We meet on the second Thursday of the month from 6-7:30 PM. Bring you interests and talents to help us continue to be an Amazing Parish. For more information, Call Wayne Efferson, Worship Servant Leader at ext DISPOSAL OF OLD SACRED OBJECTS The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will take place on Sunday, January 29 th following the 8:30 AM Mass (9:30-10:00 AM). The next scheduled anointing will be on Sunday, April 30 th. The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament and is offered to anyone in need of Christ s healing touch such as those who are in need of physical, emotional, or spiritual healing. Think of friends and loved ones who may want to receive this sacrament and invite them to this Mass. 4 Would you like to dispose of or "retire" your old religious books, articles and sacred objects, (sacramentals) but don t know how to do so in a reverent, respectful manner? There is a container (gold box) in the Narthex for these items. Sacred objects and articles in good condition will be given to the missions and/or St. Vincent DePaul Store, and items in poor condition will be disposed of in a reverent, respectful and proper manner.
