They have been members of Nativity since Since the moment they joined Nativity they have been outgoing and active members helping in an array of Ministries, but especially helping with the Finance ministry. Dennis is on the Finance Council and is a Stephen Minister. He also co-chaired the car raffle for many years until this past year. Mary shares her talent weekly helping our parish staff with counting from the weekend collection. Both have helped with the picnic for many years. Dennis and Mary do this with a kind heart and a big smile. As we recognize them for the wonderful things they do for our parish this week please greet them with a handshake, hug, and/or a smile in thanks for all that they do. 4 4 WORSHIP NEWS Contact: Wayne Efferson, Servant Leader , x206 or EUCHARISTIC HOLY HOUR (WITH BENEDICTION) Could you not watch one hour with me ; these are Jesus words when he prayed in the garden of Gethsemane before his arrest. For us Christians, prayer is a powerful way to come to know our Lord and God. Eucharistic Adoration is one form of prayer that connects us with the Christ in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, whether exposed in a monstrance or reposed in the tabernacle. Here at Nativity, we offer Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (exposed in a monstrance) every Monday at 9:30 AM, until 1:00 PM in the Chapel. In addition, this Monday (and every second Monday of the month) we are scheduled to celebrate Holy Hour with Benediction at 12:05 PM. This Holy Hour directs our hearts and minds to the Holy Eucharist, to Jesus, with hymns, prayers, scripture readings, silent prayer and then Benediction [Blessing by the priest/ deacon with the Eucharist (Jesus, not the minister, who blesses us)]. There always should be one person in the presence of the exposed Blessed Sacrament and that s why we are asking for more of our parishioners to experience this form of prayer; watch one hour with me. If you want to join us just come at any time, but if you can commit to an hour do sign up in the book on the stand in the Chapel; this helps us plan for the entire duration. IN MEMORY OF YOUR LOVED ONES & VOTIVE CANDLES The Book of the Dead continues to be present next to the Baptismal Font during the month of November, to honor our deceased. It is placed on the Funeral Pall and is illuminated by the Paschal (Easter) Candle. The Font is a place of life and death, for it is where we are baptized into Christ Jesus; where all of us die, are buried, and raised to new life in Christ Jesus. During November, record the names of family and friends who have died. This is a way of honoring and remembering them. In addition, the Votive Candles around the Font (funerals that were celebrated at Nativity this past year) that have not been picked up by a family member will remain lit until they are taken home. This devotional is a way to remember the deceased family member. TAIZE PRAYER TAIZE prayer will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 16 at 6:30 PM (Chapel). TAIZE (pronounced ~~ Teh-ZAY) is an ecumenical, peaceful way to pray, using easy to learn musical chants, silent meditation and scripture readings.a meditative, common prayer. Gathered in faith, Christians come together to sing uncomplicated repetitive short songs, like breath prayers, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty of the Spirit in its simplicity. A few words sung over and over again (mantra) reinforce the meditative quality of prayer. They express a basic reality of faith that can quickly be grasped by the intellect, and will gradually penetrate the whole being. For in-depth information visit NURSING HOME MASS VOLUNTEERS/MINISTERS Woodside Lutheran Nursing Home Assist by gathering Catholic residents for the Masses scheduled every Wednesday (2:00 PM). We are looking for a few substitute volunteers/ministers to step in if one of the regularly scheduled ministers is ill or cannot fulfill his/her Wednesday commitment. WORSHIP MINISTRY is looking to add members to its group in hopes of helping our parish prepare well for all liturgical celebrations (Mass). The LITURGY is the work of the FAITHFUL when we come to celebrate Sunday Eucharist (Mass). Our purpose, duty and responsibility is to direct in an orderly function, the spiritual and worship life at Nativity Parish. We foster spirituality of the parish community through the encouragement and enhancement of daily prayer, devotions and other liturgical celebrations. In addition, we work closely with all Liturgical Ministries so that all who participate in the Mass by way of a Ministry e.g., Lectors, Ushers, may feel comfortable in their role as they serve the Assembly. There is much to prepare when we gather for Mass so that the gospel message is effectively conveyed through music, scripture, art and environment, and prayer. We meet on the second Thursday of the month from 6-7:30 PM. Bring your interests and talents to help us continue to be an Amazing Parish. 6 Nativity Knights of Columbus Vision - In service to One, In service to all. Mission - Provide means for men to support church, Provide financial protection, Engage in works of charity. The Knights are preparing a camper that will be used during our Christmas tree sale this winter. Thanks to Rod Brown, Jerry Wyand, Tim Randall, Jim Derks, Jerry Prellwitz and others for the many hours to recondition the camper. The Knights will begin selling Christmas trees later this month.
