Ultimately, I am a disciple of Jesus who loves sharing the Gospel message of love and mercy. I have worked in parishes for nearly 12 years by day, I am a freelance speaker and writer by night, and a wife and mother of three always. I come to you most recently from Resurrection Parish in Allouez where I was the coordinator of communications. I have a passion for the areas of women s ministry and the Catholic spiritual life and have served on the planning team for the popular diocesan event, Girlfriends in God. I have degrees in theology and journalism and have been privileged to speak at conferences around the nation. My husband Kevin and I live with our three children, John Ross (10), Clara (8.5) and Thomas (5.5) near Bay Settlement and belong to Holy Cross Parish. We enjoy spending lots of quality time as a family including our two dogs, one cat, several indoor and outdoor fish, and perhaps a few uninvited mice! When I am not sorting mis-matched socks, I am an enthusiastic home cook and author of a cookbook Meals, Mass and Mystics: Cooking with a Catholic Twist. Please keep the family of Donald Micoley in your prayers. Rose Bud for Love Life Program LOVE LIFE is a local program that provides baby supplies for needy families (in our area) that qualify. 3 WORSHIP NEWS Contact: Wayne Efferson, Worship Leader x206 or EUCHARISTIC ADORATION MONDAYS, 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM In keeping with Bishop Ricken s recent pastoral reflections, Teach My People to Pray, Phase 1 of Disciples on the Way: Prayer and Holiness, our parish offers a monthly Eucharistic Holy Hour with Benediction on the second Monday of each month. Our next HOLY HOUR will be on Monday, January 14 at 12:05 PM. TAIZE PRAYER will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 16 at 6:30 PM (Chapel). Taize (pronounced-- Teh-ZAY) is an ecumenical, peaceful way to pray, using easy to learn musical chants, silent meditation, and scripture readings a meditative, common prayer. Gathered in faith, Christians come together to sing uncomplicated repetitive short songs, like breath prayers, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty of the Spirit in its simplicity. A few words sung over and over again (mantra) reinforce the meditative quality of prayer. They express a basic reality of faith that can quickly be grasped by the intellect, and will gradually penetrate the whole being. For in-depth information visit Also, Old St. Joe s Parish at SNC offers TAIZE every fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM. All Liturgical Ministers - the Winter/Spring Schedule will be available to download/print from the parish website beginning Saturday, January 19. Those who do not go online should pick up their labeled copy in the Gathering Space; extra copies will be available for anyone who wants a hardcopy. The Solemnity of the Baptism of the Lord, celebrated this Christmas Season on Sunday, January 13, reminds us of our own baptismal commitment to be a Missionary Disciple. Each one of us has gifts to share to bring to birth the Good News. There are lots of ways one can do this, but have you ever considered serving in one of the Liturgical Ministries at Mass? We need about 135 people for our three Masses in the following ministries: Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Servers, Lectors, Ushers, Greeters, Sacristans, Organists, Song Leaders/Cantors, Carport Ministers, Video Projection Ministers and more. Sharing your gifts in one of these ministries would help our parish prepare well for our celebrations. Won t you help? Contact Wayne Efferson, Worship Leader x206 or natwe@nativityparish.com. Winter Ordinary Time Decorations The Christmas Season officially ends after Sunday, January 13, The Baptism of the Lord. Therefore, we must say goodbye to our beautiful decorations that helped us celebrate yet another feast day, The Nativity of Our Lord. In addition, the Worship Ministry needs your assistance to help store these decorations and set up for a new season, Winter Ordinary Time. Join familiar and new faces on Monday, January 14 from 6:00-8:30 PM. If you can t help in the evening then how about during the day contact Wayne at ( x206) or natwe@nativityparish.com. Take a Red Poinsettia Home after any of the Masses on January 12 and 13 (RED Flowers Only); we will keep the white plants for Winter Ordinary Time. Plastic bags are available to help protect the flowers from the cold; they will be located next to the flower at various places throughout the church. WE NEED YOU TO RUN THIS! Do you like to work behind the scenes? Then maybe this is a volunteer/ministry opportunity that will suit you. It s been three years since we debuted our Multi-Media Video Projection System and since then we have heard how much more the assembly is participating at Mass, both in singing and in praying. Many have said that this technology is a wonderful addition to our celebration of the Eucharist. Currently, we have four dedicated operators who have covered every Mass since October and they now need your help. We need a minimum of 12 Video volunteers/ministers so WON T YOU HELP? You don t have to be a techy person to operate this system. If you know your way around a computer you will be a great fit. Contact Wayne at natwe@nativityparish.com, x206.
