The new liturgical year marks the transition from one lectionary cycle (A, B, or C) to the next, readings built around the three synoptic gospels Matthew, Mark, and Luke; this year s gospel is from St. Luke (Cycle C). Lectors, if you did not pick up a workbook at the Liturgical Ministers Day of Renewal (In-service) on November 3 or 5 then you can do so from the rear Sacristy. Lectors, check your name off the list when you pick up your book. GRACE--St. Cecilia Liturgical Choir, a newly formed choir of fifth through eighth grade students from all nine GRACE schools, will lead us in song at the 10:15 AM Mass on November 18. The initial audience for our choir will be our GRACE parishes as we work to promote the relationships of our schools and parishes within our community; to spread joy and thankfulness through the beauty of music. They anticipate six to eight performances will be scheduled throughout the academic year. SEASONS CHANGE - Advent Is Nearly Upon Us Worship Ministry needs volunteers to help decorate for the next season, the Church s new liturgical year (2019)-- ADVENT, December 2), in preparation for CHRISTMAS. This day and the entire month of November is a time to remember family, friends, or relatives who have died. It s a time to tend family graves, bring flowers and to tell stories we remember about these people. We remembered those who have gone before us, marked with the sign of faith at all three Masses on November 3/4, especially those whose funerals were celebrated this past year. Family members whose loved ones funerals were celebrated this past year at Nativity heard the reading of their loved one s name and were invited to take home a candle to remember their loved one. This candle symbolizes our hope in the resurrection, a hope and belief that all will rise with Christ. In addition, THE BOOK OF THE DEAD is prominently placed by the Baptismal Font. It sits on a stand draped with a Funeral Pall and is illuminated by the Paschal (Easter) Candle. The Font is a place of life and death, for it is where we are baptized into Christ Jesus; where all of us die, are buried, and are raised to new life in Christ Jesus. Everyone is welcome to inscribe the names of those they mourn so that the assembled community can prayerfully remember them. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to all Liturgical Ministers who attended the Annual Liturgical Ministers Day of Renewal (In-service) on November 3 and 5 and to our presenter, Chris Gulbrand, and to the Worship Ministry who prepared the meal for the 65 ministers who attended. Chris is a retired Kewaunee Sherriff s Department officer who presented the importance of keeping all, who worship with us, safe in the event of an emergency...thank you, Chris. A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO LYNDAHL FUNERAL HOME for donating the 46 candles for our All Souls Day celebration last week. Each of these candles represented a parishioner whose funeral was celebrated this past year at Nativity. All 46 names were read and a representative from each family was invited to take home their loved ones candle from around the Baptismal Font. This candle is a symbol of the resurrection; a hope and belief that all will rise with Christ. Thank you Lyndahl for helping us make this a meaningful celebration for these families who grieve the loss of their loved one.

5 Finance Council Presentation to the Parish November 10 & 11, 2018 Hello, my name is Walt Fountain, and I am a member of the Nativity Parish Finance Council. Thank you for joining with us today to pray and receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist. We have much to be grateful for as a faith community and are blessed to be at the center of the ever-vibrant Ashwaubenon community! Today, I would like to ask you for your prayers and support as we need your help. Financially, we are in a very tough situation. Our parish support collections are not enough to sustain our parish. Father Mike, the Parish Staff, and the Finance Council have been diligently watching our expenses and have reviewed our staffing needs. This resulted in the reduction of staff in order to more closely align with the new mission and vision of Nativity Parish. Additionally, many parishioners have stepped up to help out and volunteer to do certain jobs or tasks around the church such as our Event Set Up crew, Church Decorating teams, Yard and Snow Removal Ministry, along with several volunteers who help out with office tasks. However, I m sad to say that even with all these positive actions to lower our expenses, we have recently had to withdraw money from our investment savings account to pay current bills. And then there is our building, which is over 50 years old. That age brings the need for nearly continual repairs. You have driven through the parking lot and have probably noticed it is in need of repair. We recently repaired the roof so thankfully you shouldn t have to step around the buckets catching water dripping through the ceiling on rainy days anymore. We also recently updated our restrooms, so they are easily accessible for all. Did you hear me when I said we have taken money out of our investment savings account to pay for our current bills and expenses? Please understand we need YOUR support to sustain OUR Nativity parish! As you are aware from the Sunday Bulletin, at this point in our fiscal year we have a shortfall of $30,000 in our budgeted receipts and this shortfall continues to grow as the year continues because our weekly contributions are not sufficient to meet the parish needs. Please prayerfully consider increasing your weekly contribution. An additional $5, $10 or $20 in your weekly contribution would greatly assist us in reversing this negative slide and help us so that we can continue to offer the ministries and services available at our beloved parish. Please consider starting by making an extra contribution in the collection today. We all understand members on modest fixed incomes may not be able to increase their offering. Please pray that those with greater means will generously contribute more. Throughout the year, please continue to support our parish in other ways. Plan on attending the Women s Guild Bazaar on November 17 or purchasing Scrip gift cards for your shopping needs or as gifts for Christmas. They are available for sale every weekend in the Gathering Space after Mass and a portion of the sale supports Nativity Parish. Over the seven years that we ve been offering these gift cards for sale, the parish has received an average of $12,000 per year from these participating merchants..all at no cost to our parishioners..just by their use of a gift card to purchase their groceries, gasoline, and restaurant meals. We are continually reminded and invited to a generous sharing of all that God has entrusted to us. We ask that you prayerfully consider increasing your contribution to help us reduce our deficit, but more importantly, it will allow us to continue to strive to meet our mission of knowing, loving and serving God as a welcoming community. Thank you for generously sharing your time and resources with our parish and may God abundantly bless you and your families.

SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK December 30 This Sacrament is offered to anyone in need of Christ s healing touch. The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament for those who are in need of physical, emotional, or spiritual healing. Think of friends and loved ones who may want to receive this sacrament and invite them to this Mass. RCIA RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS Do you want to know more about the Catholic faith?
