1 YOU ARE INVITED Most Reverend R. Daniel Conlon Bishop-Elect of Joliet FATHER BRADLEY GREER: We welcome Fr. Greer to Triumph of the Cross Parish. His assignment to our parish officially begins on July 1 st. However, for pastoral reasons associated with St. Mary Parish in St. Clairsville, Ohio from which he is coming, he will begin his pastoral duties with us on July 8 th. Father Bradley was ordained to the Priesthood at Holy Name Cathedral on May 30 th, During these past two years he has served as Parochial Vicar at St. Mary s Church and as chaplain at St. John High School in Bellaire. Some in the area will remember him from having served a pastoral summer at Holy Family Church. We welcome Fr. Bradley and look forward to the priestly ministry that he will be providing for our parish community. JULY 4, 2011 As we celebrate our nation s independence many will participate in picnics and fireworks displays. In thanksgiving for our religious freedom you are invited to participate in Holy Mass this day at 9:00 a.m., Holy Rosary Church. This will be the only Mass scheduled in our parish that day. In the evening at 6:30 p.m. the prayers in honor of Mary of the Miraculous Medal will be prayed. With one voice let us offer praise and thanksgiving to our God who has blessed us 9:00 a.m. Mass Holy Rosary July 4, BISHOP CONLON S FAREWELL MASS AND RECEPTION: On Sunday, July 10 th at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Name Cathedral, Bishop Conlon will celebrate his final Mass in our Diocese. We invite everyone to participate. Our parish choirs, those that normally sing at Holy Rosary and those normally singing at Holy Name, are coming together to provide special music for this Mass. After the Mass, the reception in honor of Bishop will be hosted in the Social Hall of Holy Name Cathedral. SACRAMENTS Sacramental Information and registration forms are available at parish web-site Baptism Baptism Preparation Sessions are held the 1 st Sunday of each month from 2 p.m. 3:30 p.m. in the Marian Room at Holy Rosary Church. Please call the Parish Office to register for a class. Weddings Six month preparation required. Schedule the date with the priest. Funerals Please schedule with the priest before publishing dates and times. Anointing of the Sick Please call the Parish Office. Communion to the Homebound Please call the Parish Office. DEVOTIONS Pastoral Note: Over the past years many have not always agreed with Bishop Conlon and the decisions that he has made or not made. If bitterness is held within one s heart, it only hurts that person and those associated with him or her. I encourage all to extend a sign of reconciliation and allow God s healing grace to work in our lives. This Mass and reception is a perfect opportunity to show the desire for reconciliation. When we gather as God s family we pray and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. If we are unwilling to forgive, we can not pray the Our Father with a sincere heart. Your generosity will help to cast Christ s peace upon the world. CATHEDRAL ORGAN: Since we do not have an organist for the 10:30 a.m. Mass we have not been having organ music during the past months. In February Susie Dinger who faithfully served the parish communities found another opportunity to use her talents. We fully intend to restore the use of the organ in our liturgical celebrations. Also, we continue to attempt to maintain the organ. On a recent service visit, Peebles-Herzog, Inc., noted the following: Is there any interest in resolving the organ s major maintenance issues? More of the building continues to fall into the organ. Stopped pipes throughout the organ need to be unpacked. Console problems abound. I share this information with you so that you may become more aware of some of the major issues that we as a parish will need to contend with in the future. We will continue doing as much preventative maintenance as possible. 3 Please pray for our catechetical program in the City of Steubenville. We would like to return all the bottles to AIM. If you took a bottle but haven t had any change to put in it, please return the bottle so that it can be used for another project. Don t just leave the bottle lying around return it. SCRIP Summer Hours for BJKM School Summer hours for SCRIP purchases will begin Friday, June 3 and thru the summer months until the school year begins at the end of August: Tuesdays 8:00am to 9:30 am Fridays 11:30am to 1:00pm The SCRIP store is located in the Holy Rosary cafeteria/church hall.
